i know this is an abody site but im sure some of u have a truck to haul the car around so i figure id try. looking for a 98.5 through 2002 long bed ext cab 4x4 cummins 24v turbo diesel. let me know what you got

they started making the 24 valve in 01, 98 was still 12 valve!!!! just letting you no so you'll get what you want!!!!!

Actually, the 24 valve came out in 98.5. I have a 98.4 with a 12 valve, 5 speed, and a quad cab with back doors. It took me 11 months to find mine and I ended up getting it out of Texas. Watch the 24 valves fuel system carefully since the injector pump is lubed and cooled by the fuel going thru it. The P7100's on the 12 valves use the engine oil for that and are not as sensitive.

I've got a 90 1 ton w/unkown miles but a bunch, a 95 club cab 4X4 w/240,000 miles and a 98.4 Reg cab4X4 w/120,000 miles. !2 valves rule. I got a solid 67 Charger with my 98.4 it was a package deal. My 95 has been the best truck I have ever owned. The only thing I've done to it besides maintenance is the tranny at 230,000 miles. The reason I picked up the 98.4 was to get another 12 valve. The Charger was a bonus

I wish you weren't so far away. I'd make you a smokin' deal on an '03. It's not pretty (not terrible but has some large whiskey dents) but it's cheap and runs out good.

Stick with 98 and older 12 valve cummins, no computer control, can make lots of horsepower/torque with a little cash. I reccomend a stick shift the autos were the weak link in the early models. I own a 98 dually quad cab cummins/automatic, 160,000 miles no major issues other than replaced lift pump at 156,000 and replaced calipers back when i first got it [bought it used in 2001 with 64,000 on it] added a 4 inch turbo back straight pipe exhaust and an airaid intake, turned up the pump thats it. She gets around 15 mpg in town with the auto and a 4:10 rear gear i love my truck.

whats happening is i got approved through a dealership for a loan. if the price is good we can always get it shipped out here. he will buy the truck for me and hold it until i have the down payment in hand. but he can only do 1998 and newer. as to why i cant go to a first gen. but second gen is my favorite. so please let me know what yall have forsale and pm pictures or details and we can go from there. closer the better but. let me know and see if we can make a deal.

ive owned a 98.5 with a 12v & a 01 with a 24v the 98.5 is a lot nicer in mechanical strenth & power & suspension stiffness for hauling the 01 wasnt even in the same ball park & was nothing but headaches.
try this guy i've bought from him before & he stands by everything along with he replaces frame rails instead of straightening them.

another major change up was the 01.5 disc brake dana 80 rear end. earlier models with drum brakes are dana 80h. h is for hybrid, as in the axle tubes downsize and use dana 70 outer bearings and drum brakes. full dana 80 with a disc brake truck.
