Do you run the shifter cable before or after the crossmember?

Hmm I'm uncertain if I make myself clear here. Language barrier :(
My shifter is placed so far back that the crossmember is in front of it. According to manual I should drill the exit hole 3" infront of the furthers forward mount hole for shifter. This makes the cable exit just before the crossmember meaning it will have to be bent to clear crossmemberand then go forward and loop to come back to support. Trying to explain best I can here :)

Ahhh, I see what you are saying. Maybe move it forward just enough so the cable clears the crossmember. Would it be in an uncomfortable position if you mount the shifter with the front edge just above the front edge of the crossmember?
