The benefit of longer rod:stroke ratio is the piston stays at TDC longer & thus can produce more power from the combustion. You can also use a lighter piston with a shorter skirt. It doesn't affect compression ratio or stroke length. Lets not confuse compression ratio with cylinder pressure.
