What have I got myself in to? Denver here we come!!

Just a little update on the build. I tied up some loose ends on the wiring, just some lighting stuff to do. The fuel pump module was modified to fit in the fuel cell. Had to shorten it up a few inches to get it to work but man it fits nice! Running the fuel line tonight and we are gonna fire it it up! I am anxious to hear how it sounds. Stock 360, tti headers, hooker aero chamber mufflers and its 3" all the way front to back. It was pretty damn loud with the 440 so I am hoping its not as intense. We shall soon find out!

Just a thought for your intake

Mopar Action ran a build on a mid 90's 360 Dakota and said this intake woke things up nicely and helped the power band as the beer keg manifold was built more for low end truck grunt.

Wow!!! That thing looks amazing, and the performance would be greatly increased with that puppy!! Thanks for the link man, I have never seen that intake before now. I am gonna have to get me one of them!

Sooooo it is ALIVE!!!! Thing fired up first crank. It sounds awesome!! So happy right now. I let it reach operating temp and burped the system, checked for leaks, and all looks good. Cant wait to take her for a ride!

It was nice meeting you guys the other night. You car is awesome, you guys are doing fantastic work.

Thanks allen! It was nice to meet you too. Maybe an hour after you left we fired her up!

We moved on to the lighting wiring last night. The tail and brake lighting was pretty simple. The wiring colors matched up from the dart and ram almost dead on! The headlight wiring took a little more work to figure out. The ram headlight switch sends a ground signal to turn the headlights on vs the dart sending a power signal. We had to run two power wires to the headlight bulbs where the ground wires were. Now they work like a charm! You can even use the flash to pass feature! Really cool I thought lol. Next is to figure out the wiper wiring. From looking at the wiring diagrams next to eachother, it looks like the intermittent feature is even going to work! That would be awesome! This has been an excellent learning experience. I hope others here will realize that this swap is pretty darn easy, and will try it themselves.

Man you don't have to worry about whether others will realize how easy this appears to be, because you are doing an excellent job of giving step by step details. Great work and it looks very professional. Compliments. :prayer:

Why thank you kind sir! I appreciate the positive feedback. I forgot to add that the rams gauge cluster is mounted in the dash and all of the gauges are operating great! Tim is finishing up the final touches on the bezel. I should have the dash pad back in my hands tomorrow and can really start putting the dash back together. I will post some pics I get that wrapped up.

I took a sbort video of the car and wanted to share it with yall. Im down to finishing the dash and modifying the center console to fit now with the under dash unit.

Looks great, It is screaming for a super charger, luckily I still have my powerdyne from my dakota r/t for my swap! Keep checking the dakota forums and you can find one cheap.

Dammit son that sounds bada$$. That is totally sweet. Now you have a sweet car that can cruise all day long with ease. Congrats.

Thanks man. I would love to bolt a supercharger on this thing! That would kick ***.

Thank you! That was the plan, I want to be able to drive this thing way more than I have been driving it.

Well with the A/C in it and the ease if FI you should be able to enjoy that one year round now.

Exactly. Down here in hells kitchen, air conditioning is a nice thing to have especially this time of year lol

Hey guys! Just wanted to update the thread. I got a few more things finished up today on the car. I drove it to my buddy Tim's shop and charged the a/c this morning and it works great. I took the car out and put a solid 30 miles on it and it didn't skip a beat. Damn overdrive is an amazing thing lol. Cruising down the highway at 70 the motor is turning 2300 rpm. Not too bad considering the 3.73 rear. She sure does have some grunt off the line lol. Tim and I moved on to building the a/c vents and modifying the console to house the hvac control panel and two a/c vents. The dash is just about back together. I will post some pictures of the interior once we get the console finished up!

Looking good man !

Too bad you didnt make it to bandimere, I was looking forward to checking it out.

Cant wait to see the finished interior.

Would you mind posting some pics of how you mounted the condenser and drier and where the lines run through the core support?

I have the Magnum swap in my Dart and I LOVE IT. I would like to hook the Ram A/C up to my factory evaporator if I can.
Thanks!

Looks great. Very nice install that you did there. Should be a killer daily driver. Nice job.
Thanks man. I drove the car to work today actually!

Yea it sucks I wasn't able to make it out there. I will be driving the car out there the weekend after the 4th of July. Kbpi is putting on a show that weekend at bandimere. I will make that one for sure!

Here is the Edelbrock version of the Hughes Intake. This is intake only, no throttle body adapter and gaskets, fittings, etc. I am not sure who or where the adapter is sourced, but Scummit is 300.00 for the intake. Not sure the extra parts in Hughes kit is worth another 300.00, IMO.
You know what. I called my sales rep at Edelbrock and asked if he had a part number for that intake since they teamed up with Hughes to build it. He told me that they basically just sold Hughes the intake manifolds and then Hughes would add the stands for the fuel rails to mount to, and drilled the runners for the injectors. I have yet to call Hughes and see if they have any on the shelf. $600 is a bunch of dough man. Not sure I am ready for that yet lol.

I agree. It is well known that a point close to stock, the 2 bbl throttle body becomes a restriction on Magnum truck engines. There are several "Fastman" type companies that make oversize 2 barrel throttle bodies. If it was me, I would use the Edelbrock intake, and spend the extra money on a 4 barrel throttle body. People swap 2 barrel to 4 barrel all the time, and while there is a bit of an argument for wet versus dry intake manifolds, I can't say I can remember anyone going from a 2 barrel intake to a 4 barrel intake, but then use an adapter to keep their 2 barrel carb? Why do it with the EFI setup either?

Don't waste your money on that intake yet, put a 52mm tb (fastman) 24 lb injectors and try to snag a mopar performance computer. That barrel intake is not all that bad.

Well I've been driving the car back and forth to work and around town for the past couple weeks, and I have to say, it's way more fun than it was with the big block! Yea the torque sure isn't there like the 440 but man this thing is way more "useable" now. With the power steering it's easy to park, the power brakes make it easier to stop, and the a/c keeps my *** cool lol. It's been pretty damn warm the past couple weeks, highs around 108 to 110 and I can't get this thing to get hot. The cooling system is working amazingly, even with the a/c running all the time. I don't regret the change one bit.

This weekend I am going to swap out the 3.73 third member for a 2.94 unit in preparation for the 2000 mile round trip drive to Denver. I'm shooting for around 26 mpg on the road. I figure with the 2.94 in there that should be doable coupled with the overdrive. Right now with the 3.73 at 75 the motor is turning 2300-2400. I should be under or right at 2000 at 70 with the 2.76's. We shall see!

thats good to hear... with this 46 dodge were building its a 318/518 setup and since were running 30's were thinkin 3.91's and 2000rpm @ 65mph...
