Need to buy a copy of this one.

This pic was taken for the final of the 12.00 index series at No Limit Raceway. I had the car dialed. I took 6* of timing, I put the street avenger 670 carb back on. I filled up the gas tank and I threw the spare from my trailer in the trunk.

It ran 12.02, 12.05 and 12.08 that day. I cut two .480 lights on a .400 pro tree.

The car picked up .08 in the 60' in the final (this pic) and ran 11.91 so I broke out. the previous best with that carb is 110 mph. On this pass, it ran 112.

This was my 3rd final since I have been running this series and something similar always happens.

The car hates me, but the motor performs well.

Or maybe it was this one:

That thing is working a lot better this year for some reason. All I did over the winter was change the pushrods and the timing chain.

Not too shabby for an 8" tire either.

I love that very body style. Got a real soft spot for the 70-71.

Got a good bight in the second picture :burnout:
Our circle track owners build new engines and run them in a water truck for one season then put them in there race cars.
Nice and loose is fast, I built my old circle track engines 2 thousants loose :)

Love the part about putting the trailer spare in the trunk!! Probably whipped in a few McDonalds wrappers too. Thats a awesome pic. You never did say what kind of motor though.

Nice! I like the second pic...you get to see more wrinkle in the tire.

It does have Iron Ram heads from hughes (the $900 ones) that have been drilled to accept LA intakes. I'm running an Air Gap manifold and a custom cam from Comp. With the Street avenger, I had less than 2500 in the thing from air cleaner to pan, including fluids, gaskets and headers.

I was thinking of making some adjustments to the Caltracs, but now I think I will just leave them alone!

Wow that's awesome. I can only hope my duster with its copied junkyard motor will run that good.

Looks like it's leaving pretty level. If you do make any adjustment, make equal amounts to each side.

It's running nice.

Just wandering but what is your race weight? Spare tire and all.

The car weighs 3280 without me and quarter tank of gas. I weigh about 140 (depending on how much track food is making its way into my diet).

The spare is a steel wheel and trailer tire so I'm going to call it 50 lbs. I was also running about 1/2 tank of fuel. It wouldn't surprise me if it had been pulling down close to 3500 lbs with me in it.

I will wait for the video to come out ..

Ive posted it before, but this is all I've got for a video with the current combination. It seems like i have a real hard time getting video help.

THat video is from last year. The car is working better now.

I'd really rather run the 11.00 index they offer, but between the need to add a roll bar, and the extra weight, and the power required, it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

I could lose a bunch of weight if I wanted to pitch the bench seat and that kind of thing, but I don't really want to cut the car all up.

I think without the ballast and in good air it'll go an 11.60 this year, maybe an 11.50 if I really go after it and everything comes together. So I'm going to try to be happy with that and not get greedy.

I like your style nice car and junk yard motor and trust me you don't want to start cutting her up and putting the roll cage and stuff in I just went thru that with a 64 chevy2 that I pro street-ed and tubed and built a stroked 496ci with turbo 400 , and ended up hating the car so bad that I got rid of it and went back to Mopar. If you want to go 10's or under there is enough cut up junk out there that you can buy and go that route, good luck with the car,:burnout:

Nice goin,LX! I love using stock stuff to go fast.Did you change anything tunewise on your Avenger carb?

Makes me itch for the day I turn the key on my junkyard 5.9.

Now that I think about it...

The carb has jet extensions and is jetted up two sizes. I was using the yellow spring in the secondary. Might need to go one stiffer on that for the transbrake launch. I am pretty sure I put a 6.5 power valve in it instead of the 8.5 it came with.

I can't remember if I changed the pump cam or not. Like everything else the car wants the pink cam in the #2 slot. Only other thing I would change would be to put a #35 squirter in it, but I haven't done it yet.
