The Boss 302 was a purpose build race car, just like the AAR Barracuda and T/A Challenger for Tans Am racing. Just like the New Boss 302, it was purpose built for the track. All are great cars and Mopar and Ford/Mercury fought it out throughout that era of racing.

the AAR cuda and the T/A challengers were brand new for 1970 and truly purpose built. the 70 mustang FB was nothing more than a carry over from previous years with the boss 302 , graphics and with new grill and taillight treatments. although the mustangs had been competing in trans am long before the E bodies, the mustangs were a style concept and not designed around the TA series
