Towing to the track

Last weekend I borrowed a friends truck to tow my Duster to the track (approx 130 miles round trip) It's a 94 chev 4X4 with a 350 & auto. with my Duster on a U-haul car trailer, this thing was really struggling, & could do no better than 8 mpg. driving 60-65 mph. Anyway, I need to find a good strong truck to haul my car to the track, What do you guys suggest? because I'm on a tight budget I may end up getting a tow dolly, unbolting the driveline from the car isn't a big deal. Thanks for your input!

I've actully towed with that exact truck, less the 4X4 from South Florida to Chicago and back. Towed well, but mileage was about the same as your results. I'll assume you would rather have a Dodge if you can find one. Your not gonna find a diesel for cheap unless it has a ton of miles on it, so i would look for a late 90's Ram with a 360. Word of caution, if your looking for mileage towing........it's not gonna happen. Sad, but true.
