I'm a Jeep guy but while junkyard diving I came across this car. The tag says 1958 Dodge Phoenix. It was beautiful and couldn't belive it was there. Glass was still good, engine was in tact (V8) even the carb was still there (people usually grab those first)
I wanted to find out more about it but couldn't find ANY info. I know how useful our Jeep forums are so I thought I would post up here, I hope that is ok.
Seeing this car in a junk yard is a shame.
Any information is appreciated.

thanks
David

It's definitely not a 58, looks to be a 60 or maybe 61

Well,
This is why I thought this was interesting--wiki says they were a four door--this is a two door.
These folks usally get the date from vin or title--the don't usually "quess".
So that's two strikes that doesn't match what on the internet. That's why I thought I would go to some folks that know.
The car is beautiful--I am seriously thinking of of ??
thanks

David

Wow, there is alot of good parts, very rare ones too worth some good money! Especially the 2-door stuff and the intake manifold on that engine, if the carb matches even better. I assume it's a 4-barrel intake under the carb? Are you gonna but it? It is definitely a 1960 too.

This is a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix. In 1960, Dodge added the Dart to their model lineup. The "Full size" or "Standard Size" Dodge in 1960 included the top line Polara, and the mid range Matador (a model name used in 1960 only). The Dart line was built on a shorter wheelbase shared with the 1960 Plymouths. The Dart in 1960 was divided into three levels of trim. The Dart Phoenix was the top line Dart in 1960 (and in 61), and was available as a convertible, two door hardtop, 4 door hardtop, 4 door sedan and wagon. Then there was the mid range Dart Pioneer, and the base model was the Dart Seneca.
As it turns out, the Dart product line ended up outselling the standard size Dodges which looked very similar and shared much of the sheet metal, but the smaller Darts were priced lower, and had more restrained tail fins.
In 61, the Full size Polara remained, and the Dart (Phoenix, Pioneer, and Seneca) continued on the shorter Plymouth wheelbase.
In 62, the Dart line was downsized, and the Polara became the top line Dart. The Phoenix name was dropped by 1962 except on export models and Dodges built in Australia.

it is a PAP--They said they wouldn't sell me the whole car but I was going to go to the manager and double check. I just can't find any information on the darn thing.
Thanks for all the info so far.
I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

I see cars at Pull-a-parts around here all the time that I know what it says on the sticker is wrong, they just guess....

That is a poly 318, that intake is worth grabbing, worth atleast $200+, more if the carb is the correct one. Try to buy the whole car, lots of rare parts on it!

In Missouri, once it goes to Junk, there is no legal selling it, unless it's crushed. Had that not been the case, I would have bought the Duster I robbed a bunch of parts off of.

I sure hope LA is different.
