1958 Dodge Phoenix

This is a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix. In 1960, Dodge added the Dart to their model lineup. The "Full size" or "Standard Size" Dodge in 1960 included the top line Polara, and the mid range Matador (a model name used in 1960 only). The Dart line was built on a shorter wheelbase shared with the 1960 Plymouths. The Dart in 1960 was divided into three levels of trim. The Dart Phoenix was the top line Dart in 1960 (and in 61), and was available as a convertible, two door hardtop, 4 door hardtop, 4 door sedan and wagon. Then there was the mid range Dart Pioneer, and the base model was the Dart Seneca.
As it turns out, the Dart product line ended up outselling the standard size Dodges which looked very similar and shared much of the sheet metal, but the smaller Darts were priced lower, and had more restrained tail fins.
In 61, the Full size Polara remained, and the Dart (Phoenix, Pioneer, and Seneca) continued on the shorter Plymouth wheelbase.
In 62, the Dart line was downsized, and the Polara became the top line Dart. The Phoenix name was dropped by 1962 except on export models and Dodges built in Australia.
