I have been talking through email with AJE Racing about their tubular K-Members and front suspension. They tell me that their kit uses Mopar Larger (73-76) upper ball joints and I can use my stock spindles with their new steering arms that they just released. It is also set up for rack and pinion steering from the mustang Fox-bodies. The K-member is $459 w/engine mounts. I already have tubular UCA and disc brake spindles. Or you can use Badarts set up for these

I know by searching that it has been asked in the past with no results, but has anyone used their kit yet? A lot of the mustang guys seem to like their kit.
I am seriously thinking about their front end kit. mAny Opinions?

I would ask to see desclaimer from any of these companies that build these. Go in with your eyes wide open.

what is so special about this set up other then its tubed.why not just lighten up what you have with a peace of 2x4 box tube and use all of bad darts front end stuff.just asking Artie

Would be interested in seeing just what you have in mind for lightening up the stock K.

From the sound of it you get rack and pinion steering as well. There's no saying whether it will help out with header clearance or not depending on where everything is placed, but it should free up some room in the bay at least. Not terrible for a price either compared to a lot of the others out there. Can they do multiple engine mounts or is it just set up for stock stuff?

I take mine and cut them in half then cut an inch or so down the sides were your pan would set and box that in welded solid.(that gives you lots of room to pull the pan if needed) then put a piece of 2x3 or 2x4 across the front and blend it in. weld it all solid.( put my tow hook in there to)then drill 2inch holes were I can. I have dun a few of them two of them leve on the rear wheels and one has no inner fenders.so I know its strong...............Artie

I would think that a tubular K-Frame would be stronger in corners that the stock unit that has 40 years of use on it. Plus I like the idea of everything being modernized, especially the R&P steering. I am not knocking either one, I am just trying to make an educated decision.

I like the idea of that also.

Looks good, but I'd sure like to know if it will hold up for street use or if it's meant strictly for the track.

It looks ok but I read the thread over at moparts, a lot of bad comments, unhappy customers. The problem is all tubular k members for mopars cost and arm and a leg and then sum. I can't afford the Alter-K or any if this setups that's in the thousands. The AJE kit doesn't look too bad but for the price I think it might be worth it but before installation fix all the little boo-boo's that they overlooked. Then your talking about welding/ fabrication skills witch neither I have. It seems there is nothing in the middle its either out my price range or its in my budget and its not a well put together piece.

Just my .02 Aj

73-76 small block K-member weighs in the neighborhood of 35lbs (I've shipped quite a few). Even if you add the 1/4lb of stiffening gussets, etc. you've still got a fairly light piece. Superior handling can be achieved using factory style parts (larger t-bars, sway bars, firm feel steering gear, etc.).

yea the drag link is my problem i had a brain fart lol..thanks mike

Watch out for AJE stuff...a simple google search will show what I am talking about. Everyone who has used them in a Mustang seems to complain...some say they dont even bolt into the car...

Just an update, I had done some extensive research on the K-Members and talked to AJE as much as I could.... and I ended up buying a Hemidenny K-Member.

I know this thread is over 4 years old, but how do you like the HDK k member? Looking at getting one for my 383 swap

I'm looking forward to being a part of your build. Every one is a little different, some a little more challanging than others, but ALL are equally exciting.
