Same story for the chevy 302. The only folks who actually called a 4x3 V8 by it's displacement was Pontiac. Then you have the Ford 351s...they're actually 352 cubes, but the only one that was actually called a 352 was the old FE engine.
...and don't even get me started on the naming of firearm cartridge calibers.
