When #1 is a top dead center under compression, rotor will be pointing between four o’clock & five o’clock. This is where #1 plug wire on the cap has to be. The vacuum advance can will be pointing in the same general direction under #1, and the wire exiting from the magnetic pick-up will be roughly located over the distributor clamp down bolt. This should get you close enough to start her up, and then you will have to dial it in with a timing light.
