1974 Duster with factor AC. I pulled all the components on engine side of the firewall. Can I simply cap the old pressure lines at the fire wall and run my heater core as it was originally hooked up? Or, should I pull the AC box on the inside too? I just don't want that big POS AC unit on the car anymore. I guess I'm looking for the easiest way to retain heat and dump the AC. Thanks. I did search and I looked my factory manuals, but neither really gave the answer I need.

you can remove it all from the engine bay and just make sure the heater hoses go back where they came from on the firewall if you still want heat.

dont know if this helped any lol

I too am in the process of removing my AC from my '75 Scamp with a slant 6. I am leary of removing the compressor since THREE water pump bolts would need to be removed. I think I will wait til I buy another water pump. It seems like I will start a leak - Ugh!

Yeah, my water pump was toast anyway, so I yanked the puppy. Are you going to remove the under dash stuff?

I don't get this. Why buy a new pump. Just change the gasket. Also, you cannot delete the A/C. It is a known fact that once you have it, you must keep it forever.

Got it. Firewall is unique for heat and non-heat cars. I just dumped all the engine-side crap. I'm assuming the heat will still work.

If you really want to go all the way get a heater box from a non A/C car. Plug the hole in the firewall for the old A/C components.

You snatch it all off and throw it in the ditch. DELETED

I yanked the in-cab box--the heater core was leaking. It really wasn't too difficult to get out. Putting it back may not be as easy.

A helper is nice when it goes back in because it has to be held in place while you get a nut on it from under the hood.
I used a 3lb coffee can, and that worked to hold it up. (My helper)
