Yes I will bring the car LOL
I have never drag raced before at the track. I just want to be prepared and practical as well. No sense dragging along crap I wont need. Would love to here what you guys and gals pack in with.
Gman

spare jets...timing light...spare carb if you got one..spare distributor if you got one...at least spare rotor and cap..

i bring ..generator...battery charger, extra fuel...water...gas...oil..trans fluid....spare set of spart plugs...

floor jack and jack stands...of course tool box with every tool i think i could use..

I also have a spare md 6al unit...

ice chest with your favorite cold drink ....

I think this list could be long...

and lawn chairs, air tank, tire pressure guages/ one high pressure and one low pressure if your running slicks. Dont forget ink pen to fill out tech card and KNOW the track rules....dont forget the helmet. Hell I showed up one time without the steering wheel...long story but somebody found it beside the road on the way to the track.

school me, I dont understand one high one low? The car does have slicks.
Also runs on M1 ethanol.

I carried everything in the back of a SWB truck included a pit bike and 10X10 EZ up, dont forget some sunglasses if the sun is still up and the track points straight into it.

maybe a second pickup? LOL

I have learned ...whatever you don't bring is what you will need.....

also a few extra gaskets...intake..exhaust...valve cover are the basics....

if i go out of town..i take a complete set of rockers and pushrods...

the gauges for slicks only go to 15 lbs... they usually go by half lbs increments...

high one goes to what ever you get... for first time out go 45 on the front and 11 on the rears... did you screw your slicks on?

electrical fuses...electrical tape..duct tape which is good for taking care of the kids..

If you are just there to get a time; bring chairs and a tent or umbrellas. Cooler, camera.

Serious? slicks, tools, jacks, every spare part you own. and that is still not enough. Head to head? Psych involved.

All the previous suggestions are valid, but if it's the first time i would take a minimal approach. Have the car set up as best you can before hand then take a jack, basic hand tools, some snacks/drinks and just get used to the track experience and have fun. If you have a issue then just pack it in and take a few more things next time. Your not there to set a national record....lol. The more times you go the more you'll know what you need. Don't overwhelm yourself and miss out on the learning and enjoyment of it all. You'll also be surprised at the help and tools fellow racers will assist you with if need be. Just go have fun.

Yes one guage for the slicks (low pressure) and one for front tires (high pressure) and I always screwed my slicks on just for cheap insurance.

oh and also a small flash light for doing the slicks in the staging lanes at night, my guage has a built in light.

Having been rescued in the staging lanes by a jumpstart box, I now own one. I would also add water for the rad., zip ties and shop towels or heavy duty paper towels. Oh, and some shoe polish for your dial in.

Sounds like you guys got it covered.

Nail on the head for a first timer.
I would add a cheap 10 x 10 pop up shade if allowed and folding chairs.

Spare belt and wrench to put it on.Screw driver and timing light. Set of plugs.chair.Fire extinguisher.First aid kit. Plenty of fluids.

How about this. Drive your car to the strip and have fun. Don't worry about all the crap you need to take. A basic tool kit, a tire gauge, and a timing light would be great choices, but if you overthink it this will be your one and ONLY trip to the track because it won't be any fun.

don't forget windshield cleaner I use invisible glass, the best I have found. Take a folder with pen and paper to write down what you want to bring next time.

Make friends and you will have fun. Don't be shy most racers are always willing to help out.
Remember your helmet, rule book, don't wear shorts or flip flops, wear jeans and shoes.

The other question is how do you get your car to the track? Drive, tow or trailer (open or closed) If you have a closed trailer stock it with what everyone has posted and start from there.

hope you have fun

post your results

I like the way you think old man! But seriously all good suggestions.

First time there...Watch and learn what other racers are doing/bringing.
Search for 70aarcuda and park beside him,he,ll have all you need incase of breakage/emergency LOL.:DHave fun!

The phone number of a good flat bed tow truck. My first trip to the track netted me a busted axle. You have no idea how sticky that track can be.

I take: tools, jack, jack stands, air tank, cooler with food/drinks, sun screen.....that's it. Have fun, like most folks said, most racers are VERY nice folks and very helpfull....and love to talk about their car :D
