The bfg tires are useless , smoke the tires through 1st and a good part of 2nd before the car hooks up , best I can run is 13.8 @105 , reaction time is sub tortoise 1,44 seconds and I just leave it in drive . The big problem is traction , I'm spinning for over 100 feet . The tire is just for the track but I'd like to drive from my house to the track with them , so street legal and like to keep same tire height so I don't have to get new gears , have 3.55 now .
Thanks

Just about any of the drag radials out there will be a big improvement over the bfg's.

I have 14" wheels myself and I've had trouble finding a decent drag radial available for that size wheel. I'm looking into just buying some 15" wheels with tires mounted on them that I can throw on when I'm heading to the track.

With a 15 inch wheel the tire will be 27"=28" so my 3.55 will be more like 3.23 , not going to be much of an improvement . Don't want to change gears again , that's why I wanted 14" if possible

You could step down to a 50 series tire. Like 235-50-R15s. If you want to keep it cheap and strong look for some factory Steelies or Rallyes.

see what you can find in cooper cobra's they seemed to be an improvement, try rolling out some before ya put her to the wood??

The 235/60R14 is 25.1 in tall and the 235/60R15 is 26.1 in tall. There are several drag radials available in a lower profile too.

I still spin , if I floor it at 15 mph still spin through 2nd and my time is worse 14.2@102
Dealer down the street has cooper tires , I'll check them out .

These are a little smaller, not sure how they'ed look, but wouldn't hurt the gear....lol.

This is a tubeless bias ply, but probably want to change the fronts too, alot of hassle.

The first one looks good , if you think 215 will give me the traction , don't mind the height , that will help . Just worried a 215 will not put enough rubber down , then again have no experience with those tires , I'll look for a set locally if you think it would help .

Depending how hard you hit them with the converter
i'm sure you could turn them a little. Probably would recover pretty quick though. In my experience once the regular T/As get goin there very hard to get back. With that said, it's a pretty good chunk of change to find out. Maybe a reasonable size 15" would be better in the long run, especially if you decide to up the power sometime?

M&H does a 235/60-14 Bias DOT drag tire...25" diameter...
May be just what you're lookin' for.
Getting a set myself.

I have a set of the M&H 235/60/14s on a spare set of rallye wheels that I take up to the track when I race my Scamp. I usually 60' right around 1.80, I run 12-13 psi and they do get a little squishy at the top end. (12.2 @ 116 mph)

Stock converter , plus I don't gas brake at the line , only one working leg and arm , I just hit the pedal . I also leave it in drive , so am missing a bit of the power from 5200- 6500 . Just tired of going sideways down the first 1/4 of the track . I look for the 215.s locally and pick up a set , they have to be an improvement . Next I have to get some kind of paddle shifter , I'm sure i'm losing 3-4 tenths leaving it in drive

Smoke them things man! C'mon what's wrong with a burnout? Please the crowd. Burn them bitches!! Lol!

I smoke them good in the staging area area , just don't like smoking them down the track , looks cool , but I'd rather have a good time slip . You should have seen it with the open diff , smoked the tire over 1/2 the track ! Great smoke show but was like driving on ice .

That's more like it , I don't think I'll run 12.2 , a 13.2 would be fine by me .

With the 105mph you're leaving a lot on the table that's for sure. It would be cool to run high 12s/low 13s with a 7" tire and rally's. Your approching sleeper territory....lol. I personally would try them, i just don't feel comfortable spending other people's money. I'll look around also and see what kind of shifters are available and post if i find anything that looks promising. Wish i was closer, i'd like to see you make some passes.

Thanks , high 12s or low 13s would be nice . See what I can do when i get those tires .
My first run this year I ran against a Mazda , I bogged of the line then my usual burnout so they had me by 3-4 cars off the line maybe more , almost caught them, they won with a 15.17 against my 14.7 @101 , my reaction time was 1.884 , sucks getting old .

Id pick up a set of 15X7 rallyes and get some 235-60-15s M/T drag radials. If your having that much of a traction problem losing a bit of gear from the extra hieght may not be a bad thing.

You might be right , thing is I have 4 spare 14" rallye wheels . I'll think about it though , it will be much more expensive , can't find sbp 15x7 rallye wheels in Canada , and they want as much to ship as the cost of the wheels , so 2 wheels are close to 400.00 .

What is your rim width? Do you think they would squeeze onto a set of 5.5"s?

On another thread there is a guy that says he has ran 245/60R14 on stock 5.5" rallye wheels. It doesn't calculate out to where you would be getting maximum contact with the road but I don't know.

Here is a calculator where you can figure out what the tire size to the wheel width should be.
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp?err=98&rsn=usr-snt-emty-str

Based off the calculator a 235/60R14 should be ran on wheel width of 6.5" to 8.5".

Well looking for some 235 or 245 60-14 slicks , my tire guy is on the hunt , hope he finds them . H sells cooper tires , said I would not get much better traction with coopers , he is a racer himself and he thinks slicks are the only choice .
Thanks , will let you know if or when I get the tires .
