Hey all,
Has anyone heard of badart and dillingerchassis? What is the opinion of their product, anyone using it?
I am considering them as an alternative to alterkation as a weekend driver, not strip really.

any input greatly appreciated.

I did contact him, he was very fast on the reply (damn near midnight my time).
Just doing homework as I see prudent. But i have heard his name/products a few times, figured I would check him out as an alternative to alterkation and getting rid of those damn TBs.

i will be using johns parts. if i was building a car that was going to get driven daily i would use the alter-k because of the rack. but i am not.

John is a good dude. I have a few of his parts already and am in the process of buying more. Very easy to work with too.

OOOOH, nice catch injunkie, I didn't realize his setup was not rack.....alterk it remains. argg.

I would not be so quick to rule out his system just because it does not currently utilize a rack-and-pinion. I've dealt with him a few times and he has been awesome to deal with. I would drop him a line and see if he has started investigated the integration of rack-and-pinion steering to his system. It's always worth asking.

definately. And to be honest, the more I think....Do I really need rack? I mean I have coil overs with him, the TBs are gone..that opens form for exhaust. And rack will make it more of a modern feel right? but this car is old, i don't want it to necessarily feel like a new car, like my charger. I know im stuffing an FI hemi in, but maybe I should leave some "older" feelin in the steering, hell im loosing the throttle cable feed back as is thanks to DBW.

I agree. Even will full manual steering in these cars, they turn very easily. In fact, I think that the power steering is absolute overkill. The only time you might not like manual steering is when parallel parking.

I don't know how well the rack and pinion units work, but it's ultimately up to you.

John build some very nice products. I have his uppers/strut rods and would not have any reservations buying from him again.

A+ guy in my book!

are you getting headers built? if so even the t-bars are not a problem. planning on a 572 efi HEMI in front of a 4l80e. spoken with several good header builders and was told the t-bars are not an issue. also asked about the steering box and was told they are putting 2.250 pipes in the HEMI SS cars with steering boxes....

well from what Im seeing INK, with my existing k member (S6 btw..argg), I am looking at having to remove the mounts and fab my own to get the 5.7 hemi in, then its hitting the the gear box, and its so tight a spot for exhaust.
I have read alot of hemi articles, seen pics. EVERYONE goes with alter k or another setup OR they have manual gearbox, and then its still tight.

The TBs being gone would just make more room....and at some point besides true dual exhaust, I am gonna try and stuff a t56 in there, and may need the room where the TB crossmember currently resides.

Maybe i'll go with John, looks like a decent setup. Gets rid of TB and get coils, then I am trying to get a hold of hemidenny...i heard he makes a K member.

with out the t-bars you can pretty much get rid of the t-bar/transmission cross member. pretty sure that is what bill reilly did on his car. my tunnel needed some serious surgery. what was left was triangulated back into the sub frame connectors. the trans mount/cross member was also welded to the sub frame connectors. if you would like some pictures just pm me your email address.....

I used his forward down bars with my fender exit headers. I had to trim them for a little extra clearance but the material was there so no problem. The guy is really good to work with. I will use his stuff in the future without worries.

A member on here named hemidenny makes a K frame the uses rack and pinion special addco sway bars and will fit any new Gen Hemis, Old Hemis, Small Blocks, Big Blocks. You could contact him he responds very quickly.

Don't believe they are for daily use though.

I have purchased upper and lower control arms plus coilover adapters from John (Badart). All his parts look nice and strong. Along with a different K frame, they are my winter project on my drag car.

Well John definately has the price where I am ok with it, the parts look great. If Denny gets a hold of me, I may roll and get parts from these guys.

John is a Great Guy to deal with. Honest, straight up & one of the hardest working guys I know. I have his Radiator support. Lower Control Arms & upper coil over conversion shock mounts and his Tie Rods!
Couldn't be happier with his parts. He is fast with his shipping and as reliable as it gets!

I've got Johns upper/lower control arms, strut rods, coil over adapters, coil over hoops, and his radiator support going onto my duster. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend his products to anybody.

Rack and pinion steering doesn't instantly make your car awesome, there's more to it. Spring rates and sway bars play much more of a role in the car's potential. If you absolutely want rack and pinion later down the road, you can switch over to a pinto set-up (for example) and tubular k-member and work it so it still steers from behind in the factory tie-rod position.

Badart puts his stuff to the test.
