Looking for a good SB mopar mechanic who is proficient at diagnostics as well as tuning. Location near Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA. Anyone interested?

having trouble with brakes locking up. had hydro-boost setup early on, worked fine(but very touchy). then seals went & they didn't stand behind their product. now i installed a power booster/master cylinder(8" bore) and electric vaccum pump. still have original brass proportionong valve on frame. now brake peddle won't release w/o me pulling up on it with my foot!!! undrivable to say the least. any hints??

What brakes are on the car? Who's hydroboost? Does the warning light come on?

Sounds like the return spring in the master is shot, or the master cylinder pushrod is hanging up.

If the brakes feel good when you push them down and they return fine when you pull up the pedal, then I doubt the vacuum pump is an issue. Is there a "jarring" or an "unhooking" feeling when you pull up, or do you have to pull the brakes up all of the way?

I believe the car has the front disc/rear drum setup if I remember right from seeing it in Foxboro.

I would look into the master cylinder and see if it checks out on a bench test.

I was leaning towards the check valve or the rod in the booster, but I think we're on the same wavelength...

I spoke to my mechanic friend (from Cumberland, RI) and he said that it might be too much vacuum in the booster holding the brakes down. I'm not familiar with how power brake boosters and master cylinders work, but I would limit the problem to the master cylinder/brake booster area.
Do you need somebody to take a look at it? I go to Foxboro when they have the big cruise nights and I wouldn't mind checking it out. I could bring my mechanic buddy. He's not a Mopar-specific mechanic by any means, but he's helped me out a ton with my build.
Let me know.

thanks Mike, i've spoken to Wilwood techs and they suggested updating the proportioning valve to an adjustable one with two residual valves(2psi for the front disc and 10 psi in for the rear drums). i'm trying this setup shortly, will let you know. funny i'm originally from Cumberland too!!!! i won't be at BassPro on Aug 2nd with the green beast but i'll be there in my Black SRT8(front lot 16@pole #1606, as long as it doesn't rain. stop by and say hello.... :) looking forward to the M&G....

Unfortunately, I'll be working until about 11 tonight, but keep me posted on how the new proportioning valve works, and maybe I'll have my 73 Swinger at the next show. You'll notice it. It'll be the only car that has everything except paint lol.
