Hey all,, ok I got a duster with a stock 360 with a 480 comp cam and gonna but a set of rhs heads on it from immEngines. My question is how much difference would it be performance wise to change the performer rpm Intake that's on now to an air gap intake. Is it worth it??

Thanks guys

I like the air gap and good if you upgrade. Or practice porting on the rpm

Run your Performer RPM and block off the heat crossover. Not much potential gain for the cost.

Ask Brian, he'll probably agree.

Stay with the RPM Performer. They work well. You will not notice a difference swapping it out. I use to spin my 340 to 7200 RPM using that intake.

They are the same intake. If your not running the heat cross over, and your not with the Indy X heads, the AG will gain nothing. The big empty cross over is as effective as the AG. I have built 2 stroker small blocks this summer, one with the RPM(non AG) and one with the Weiand Stealth. They both made 560HP and 550TQ.

But in the end they are the same. Same ports, same core, same port volume. Save your money or put it somewhere else in your engine to get more power.

I was pricing them for my future 360 street build and had the same question. I like the looks of the Air Gap over the Performer but plan to drive mine year round (360 street build not race/stroker) here in Missouri including cold days so would the Performer be better?

Run the Rpm (no air gap) Mr . Gasket sells intake gaskets, with the tin blockoff plates.Drill a small hole in both plates, call it a day.

Yep great advice here, no need to upgrade in my opinion. They offer pretty much the same performance and you won't notice any bang for your buck, unless you live in the middle of the desert :)

Yep go performer RPM, the consensus seems to be that if you live in a colder climate this is the intake to run (better all year round street manners). No significant performance improvements in running an air gap (especially not if you don't have an electric choke).

I posted the same question a few months ago when I was looking to upgrade my intake and that was the general response I got. I ordered the performer RPM but it was back ordered at the time so I ended up with the air gap. My car is pretty much a summer cruiser so I have had no issues with the intake yet :) and it is running great. (except for installing it but that is another story LOL)

Twice in one day you all have saved me from making a mistake. I was going to go with the Edelbrock Performer, AFB, over the Thunder, AVS and read enough on this forum to change my mind. Same with the intake as well. Saved me a bunch of money down the road too when I can finally get all the pieces together. I appreciate the fact that you all answer with patience questions people probably have posted many times. I am now inspired to start thinking about my 10 year old son's first car in fivish years. It'll be a Mopar...

Keep in mind there is a Performer 318/360 which is different from the Performer RPM and Air Gap intakes.

Since your upgrading the heads, I say go for the Air-Gap. The Air-Gap is King, and out performs many of the single plane intakes.

He already has a performer RPM. The change he is asking about would only be from an RPM to RPM air-gap.

That is why most of us are telling him to just stick with what he has.

Dam....I stand corrected.Think it's time for some glasses. Stick with the RPM then.
