what's the shade tree adjustment for the sector shaft?
just take up the slack,go back a hair and cinch the lock nut?
 
my bad..actually the cross shaft adjuster.
i have the shop manual but did not want to tear the front end apart.
final check is on the steering wheel nut/8 in.lbs and pitman arm rem'd.
maybe i should just do it the correct way...
 
You're supposed to loosen the big lock nut on the front and tighten the worm gear deal first. Then do the cross shaft adjustment.

Personally I've never been able to get the big lock nut loose on any of the 3 boxes I've had. I even had them in a vice and turned the box as hard as I could and it would just bend the nut.
