well the dart is getting pulled apart...

Wow I never saw this coming. I totally understand not wanting to dump that kind of money in the car, you won't get it back out that's for sure. Injection and overdrive are an amazing thing. I have been driving the hell out of my dart since doing the swap from the ram. I've put about 3000 miles on it in the last month. Actually I just got home from a 70 mile drive today in 115 degree heat and the car was perfect. I hope to see the burnt orange car sitting low, lean, and mean!

i had the FAST EFI for my car and the more i thought about it the more i didn't trust it... most of the sensors were off the shelf GM parts but the brain and injectors were FAST only. i would have kinda been screwed if one of those two things went.. if i go EFI in the future with anything i want a factory type of set up..

another reason i decided to sell it off was i had the FAST stuff, still needed around another $1000 to get the tank and everything else to install it.. then to get OD of anytype i was looking at another couple grand. in the end i just wasn't into the car enough to put that money into it.. i really wanted a convertible..

how can't you love this....lol....

yes going to part it out..

WHY WHY WHY ? Now i thought i saw it advertised on Craigslist yes ? If so why list it. Now your parting it out HU what is wrong with the car? I know you bumped your hear at work right?

Please explain !!!!

it was listed for sale here, craigslist and moparts.. no intrest in it.. i wasn't going to give it away..

whats wrong with it? the body. needs too much money that i'm not willing to put into it. like i said, most of the good stuff will probably make it to jamies spotless 70.

So sorry to see you part it out.And what did the body need ? as it looks good. and is the body worth fixing as my son is looking for a a body.

nothing to be sorry about.. its just a car man..

needs quaters, outter wheel houses, trunk extensions, a passenger floor section then the front panels needed to be worked, then chrome, finish int. paint...etc...etc...etc... i'd have another $10k into it getting it to where i would want it..

the shell is already spoken for. as soon as i get all the stuff i want off it the guy is going to use a ton of little stuff from it to build his dart.

Will you sell the front turn signal lenses?

might have an extra set out in the shed...

like i said.. i'm gonna pull it apart, see what i'm keeping then put a sale ad up.. as of right this second nothing is being sold except for the seats.. the other stuff i have to get out and see if i need it or not... will most likely sell the wire harness in it too..

I have a rust free 70 dart shell that i will sell you for a thousand bucks. Its in texas and it would probably cost that much to get it there. Good luck with your project.

Very sad to see this car go. It is actually an inspiration for my next build. I love the stance and how it sits.
That being said, as much flack as people might give you for parting it, at least it is being used to give new life to other Mopars. These cars are approaching 40-50 years old. They won't last forever.
Good luck with the disassembly/reassembly/sale. I wish I would have waited for your wiring harness. Spent $460 on mine from Painless, and it was a terrible headache. I've seen your write-up on wiring and would trust the whole harness in a second.

It sounds like you have got everything out of her that you could Joe, and although it's tough for some of us to see an icon like your Dart nearing her end, I can't fault you in your decision.

Just promise that you will continue using at least a tiny pic of her in your posts. It'll make it easier to wean ourselves off it.

The sad reality is that it's worth more in parts than it is whole.
I agree, it's too bad though........
this is pretty much the case with all these cars....

it was for sale.. no one wanted to buy it.. i sure wasn't giving it away.
and why should you?

Injection and overdrive are an amazing thing.
That they are, that is why I have the EFI cross ram for a HEMI and the 4l80e in the garage. Problem is it costs some $$ to do and people don't want to leave there stone age technology behind. when was the last carburetor vehicle sold, sometime in the mid 80's?
i agree with Joe, it is just a car.......

if you had wanted an oe based efi setup you probably should have looked here ........course some folks would have a problem with it because it is a ford eec maf system from a Mustang

yea i bought the FAST set up after seeing how well it worked on a couple of friends car.. then i got to thinking about what if an injector or that brain goes bad hours away from home.. i'd be screwed.. its nice to be able to get parts at a local parts store..

joe, now you know what it must feel like to be on the side of the road with the vultures circling over you.....

this is one of the reasons i will be using a the fast xfi or ms tpi set up instead of the ez kit, it uses gm sensors and regular injectors. not to mention all the advantages of tpi over tbi......
