Does anyone have any recommendations for: specific parts, techniques, symptoms to be aware of or potential problems?

I can just loosen the door and tighten it again, but that is only going to get me half way there.

Are your hinges worn and need rebuilt? Most of the time that is the real issue. I would look at that first. If that is the case I would rebuild them myself, get them rebuilt by the member here that rebuilds them or find some good used ones.

Grab ahold of your door from its bottom, lift it up on it, and observe if there is any play in the lower hinge pin. If play is evident, replace it with rebuilt unit of new hinge. Bushings and correct size drill bits are available from many vendors, but I have not had good success rebushing Mopar hinges.

Once hinge is tight, there is plenty of adjustment in the door hinge attachment to make a perfect fit. It will take a bit of screwing around, and several trial fits before you get it right.

Yep! Just rebuilt mine without issues. There is a member here that also rebuilds hinges.

Up and Down, Front to Back is the bolts where the hinge bolts to the hinge pillar.
In and Out is the bolts where the hinge bolts to the door. Some minor highth adjustment can be made here too. NO shims will be needed unless there is damage to the pillar!

I've seen companies fit them with zerks when rebuilt. Seems like a pretty good idea to allow you to give it a tiny squirt of grease as needed.

Not to hijack, but...

The spring that holds the "detent"- the arm on the rollers that keeps the door in place when 1/2 way open- is making a lout pop. I've lubed the crap out of it but it still does it. What's the fix for that?

Fixed it, hole was wallowed out.

Put in a screw that was about one size larger than the pin.
