2012 Mopar Nats Meet and Greet

-
Looks like I'll be there sat. now

Well. The Dart made the trip. But not without incident, got a stone kicked up from my buddies trailer in front of me, yep... Broke the windshield, and now I'm sitting at the hotel watching mother nature pour buckets on the buggy... The rear window leaks. Bad... So there's water everywhere. Oh well. Gives me a project for this winter

That sucks speedracerX... At least your there. I'm about a half hour from entering the good ol' U S of A.... I hope they let us in.

Raining like a bugger here to but I think we'll drive out of it. We'll be there tomorrow morning.

I am a new member (last night) and plan to stop by on Saturday - thanks for hosting this!

Sittin in Cleveland tonite watchin the rain come down hard.
Hopin it blows thru before tomorrow as we make the drive to the Nats.
Could be a little wet Fri am...

I'm leaving for the nats in about 4 hours.I have a truck load of parts and my son is driving his Viper. If its not to busy in the swap booth Saturday I will come look you guys up.

Well... Its 7am, still raining..been raining steady and heavy all night.. I can pretty much breed gold fish in the Dart now, theres so much water in it. All the years I have been coming here, this is the first time that the first day is looking like a rain out.. what a bummer. Tomorrow and Sunday are looking totally sweet though. So my trip wont be a total loss.. Hope this stops soon so I can at least try drying the buggy out lol..

Been a little busy the past few days but im back. We rolled into town yesterday at around 4. Pretty good drive over caught a few sprinkles but nothing major. Got to the track, got the car unloaded and under the Legendary tent and the skies let loose. One of the worst storms I've been in a while. Even had small hail for a few. Stuff was blowing everywhere, a few vendor tents got blown down and their stuff was scattered. Luckily Legendary has a ten that's built like a house, and my car just got a little wet from a few drips from the seams and at the front corner it kind of blew in sideways a little. Got it wiped down, but need to get over there this morning and hit it with quick detailer again and open up the hood and trunk. See you guys there.

Morning. We got to Medina last light, rained pretty hard at times. Looks like there's a system that will move thru this morning and then we will be good to go. It's not raining here now but we have a couple hours drive this morning.

I hope things start drying up so we can have a good afternoon on the track.

Well...This trip just hasnt gone the way I would've liked lol.. first the broken windshield, then the crazy rain, (the rain that blew in during the show yesterday was intense, thank god for Legendary tent and the roof next door to it).. The buggy got lots of attention, and I was finally starting to feel good... when it came time to leave, the traffic was insane so my wife and I and one of our friends decided to sit and wait it out.. when we finally decided to go, the Dart fired right up, and directly quit.. and never fired again.. I was upset and irratated and decided I didnt want it left at the track (though thinkin back I probably should have left it there.) So my buddy drove his Cuda back to the hotel, got the truck and trailer, and we trailered the Dart back to the hotel.. worked on it in the parking lot til about midnight.. she still is dead.. We are pretty sure at this point that the distributor took a dump... Should have one this afternoon and hope to get the car fixed in time for Heath... but truthfully I just want to get it fixed so I can hopefully get her home.. She has to drive a couple hundred miles Sunday... ugh... Still planning on showing up for the meet and greet... The Dart wont be there today, but the wife and I will

Well, I was at the Nays today but didn't see the FABO hospitality tent...lol. I did get the chance to meet Kegan and KrazyKuda. The first two FABO membersI've met face to face. Good to meet you guys and hope to meet more later.

I stopped in for a little while. It was good to meet Mike and a couple others.

We were lucky to get our second time trial in today as the sky's finally opened probably 2 or 3 pairs of cars after us. Truck has run very consistent over the event so far. Yesterday it went an 11.28 and 11.26 and today it ran 11.24 and 11.23...A lot of racers are saying they are 2 tenths off which would be about right for us.

No rain in the forecast tomorrow, looks like it will be a great day of racing.

Just got home a couple hours ago. (Sun @ 5:30) A 8 hour drive but worth it. The Nats are always a great time for me. I get together with local Mopar friends and trek to Columbus to see other Mopar friends and meet new ones. I had a great time meeting those of you who stopped by. It's fun to talk to people who you know but have never met and great to hear the stories of your cars history or how you got into Mopars (or got back into Mopars) and even the hard luck story of SpeedracerX who broke a windshield, had a lake of water in his trunk, and had to send his wife to the local parts store for a new distributor to get his car running again. I hope you made it home and aren't still in your motel parking lot. LOL This meet and greet wasn't for toolmanmike to meet some of his A Body brothers and sisters but for all of you to meet those who you are friends with but have never met. My directions were far from perfect. Our vendor space is a small one but really easy to find if someone wouldn't park their truck in front of our Easy Up, blocking the view of the great banner that 2darts made for all of you. I need to quit rattling on and post some photos. I was so busy and tried to be part of so many conversations I just about forgot to snap some photos. Thanks again to you members and spouses that made my 5th. Nats the best yet. toolmanmike

Sorry I made it (really) late. Atleast I finally found it! It was nice meeting some other members.

I met MaSnart at the Nats, Was good to talk to you Steve. I never made it over to the meet and greet..... Not sure why but it may have something to do with rum. I also had visit from Cliff Gromer from Mopar Action. He ask if he could shoot the Barracuda for an up coming issue. What do you think I said? LOL It was cool for sure.

I spent the weekend with HemiDenny (who didnt bring his car because of the weather ( I thought it was a driver, coffeee getter?) 62BT409, Old Man Mopar, SS somethingorother, (Tod) Weeb, Mark and a few others....

Hey all,
It was good to meet you toolmanmike as well as dartsport360. Sorry I had to leave so soon but it was fun to be able to shoot the breeze with you guys.

Ian and I looked all over for the tent but couldn't find y'all. I don't think it was down the way by Stephens, and it definetly wasn't by the bumper boyz either!! We looked on the other side but didn't see any evidence of a get together.

I did meet up with Karl also, and he bought a set of X heads from my brother. Also talked to 65 Dartman Don who hooked me up with the elusive parts I needed. Thanks Don!!

I also met up with another member who was standing right in front of my swap spot in an FABO shirt, I think it was 2darts, not sure though!!

Sorry I missed y'all, it was a good weekend all in all!! Geof

Yep. We were hidden between Stephens and the gate to the vendor parking lot.
Our space was cut in half apparently due to the new management's better ideas. I hope they will correct it for next year. Sorry I missed you. Next year I can put a sign out by the aisle or float a helium balloon or something. tmm

Mike... It was so cool of you to have the meet and greet.. I enjoyed very much meeting you and the other members that were there when I was.. I wish I could've hung out and talked a bit longer, but as you know there is just so much to do and so much to see, and of course my wife was waiting on me in the tower.. LOL .. To update the buggy's rough weekend, we got stuck at the track when the rain came, and the most insane form of mass-exit took place.. we finally got back to the hotel around 6:30... and started working on the car again.. in between rain storms (that werent even forcast to happen... go figure) .. had to run back to heath for a cap and rotor to go with my new distributor.. finally around 9-ish, the buggy once again fired.. thank god... I took it for what could be called a spirited ride, and I wasnt exactly kind to the 'ol girl as I put her through her paces.. She seemed pretty much to be back to normal.. then the rain came again.. this morning I sopped up the various gold fish ponds that had accumulated in the Dart.. packed her up.. and we headed back home.. The Dart made the trip just fine, except for running a bit hot from time to time.. could be just a timing issue from swapping out distributors, we shall investigate further, next week.,.. im not going near the car the rest of this week LOL .. but on the way back, my other friend with his 77 Cordoba (the only other guy in our crew besides me to drive the car rather than trailer it) had electrical issues, and had to be trailered back.. it was just a bad weekend all around for us I guess lol, but we all made it back safe and sound... all in all, I still managed to have fun, met great people, and put faces to screen names.. I have met a lot of members over this summer, and I do hope you host another meet and greet next year... I will most definitly be there

Hey HemiMark,

I enjoyed talking with you as well. It was also great to meet your friends from PA and see their nice *** cars. And finally, to see the hemi fish in person.

My brother and I wander around all day and had a great time. Ran into Dave Young (Tech Editor for Mopar Muscle Magazine and the guy I bought my fish from) and the Kilpatrick racing boys (who have done some work on my Mopars) and are a great bunch.

Toolmanmike - Great idea on the meet and greet - I had planned to only be at the show on Friday but was there on Saturday, but forgot which damn swap meet sight you guys were at or would have joined - Maybe next year.

I was on the next aisle over in the second spot facing the exit gate(D39) between rain,Viper club stuff, and trying to sell parts for a dollar a pop, I never made it over (a whole 75 feet) to meet anybody. I will be going to Monster Mopar in Indy, maybe I can catch yall there.

Dang Chuck. I'll bet I went up that aisle 100 times throughout the weekend. Nice to meet you online and we can try for next year. LOL tmm

I got to meet HemiMark for about 10 seconds, and a rest stop along rt 70 lol... Came up to me and my wife as our group was getting ready to pull out and get back on the road.. It is so cool that you can be recognized by the car and someone you have only talked to on the internet can just walk up and 'know' you... Again I say this site is the greatest... And HemiMark I thank you for the compliment on the buggy as I was leaving.. Hope we meet up again another time.. for more than 10 seconds LOL
