Like the mother of all head aches that keeps coming back, my ex-wife is after me again. She ran off with someone else in 1993 and while I lost the kids, the house, every dime I had, and learned Jerry Reed's "She got the goldmine" song by heart, she was on the way to buying 3 houses, countless new cars, and struggling to get by on the $950+ a month I had to send. We agreed child support ended when my daughters turned 18. One is 19 and the other 21. But, my ex owns a 4800 foot mansion in Keller Texas and can't sell. She has decided to come after me for child support, retroactive to the time the girls turned 18 until now or longer. I have a lawyer so am broke again. Anyway, the state's financial form I am forced to fill out asks me to list all my automobiles and trucks. 2 of my cars include a 68 Charger shell, no interior or drive train, another a 68 Barracuda with no drive train, and a 66 convertible that is not running and has no top or interior. NONE of them have ever been registered. I bought all three from salvage yards. In my opinion, since they have never been registered, don't run, can't run, I shouldn't have to claim them. Before I mail the form back to the state, what say you all? I'm under the weather and about to sign off for the night and will check back tomorrow. I apologize if this was not the proper place to pose such a question. I bought these salvage items and have been waiting so many years to finally start working on them when all this happened. I'd hate to lose them to such a money grubbing gold digger.

In my opinion,You are an art collector. Those vehicles are are yard art.
Just listed the vehicles that are registered to you.
You should also asking your lawyer this question.
Good luck!

"Sell" the cars to someone you trust. These are Bob's cars, not mine. wink wink nod nod

Sounds more like assests to me, I sell my Barracuda to somebody at least once a year LOL, have the title here in my desk but it hasnt been registered in 25 + years. 4,800 sq ft in Keller doesnt really constitute a "mansion" unless its on 5 or more acres. Im just a mile or two south of there.

Just out of curiosity, and this might sound strange, but are either of your girls in college down in Texas? The reason I ask, and I'm sure your lawyer knows this, but per Missouri law the only way you should still have to pay child support past age 18 is if they are in college.

Also a friend of my dads had this happen and he had his 68 charger at the time. It was stripped to pieces and was goin to get painted and body panels replaced. He had brought it to court and the he pleaded it wasnt worth anything and the judge agreed and ruled he could and I quote "Keep his beloved piece of S@#$."

Come to think of it I know where there is a Barret Jackson purchase, 70 superbird worth up to 250K depending on the market being "hidden" during a divorce. Hmm wonder if theres a finders fee LOL

I hesitated making this post as I didn't want my intent to be misinterpreted (and it wasn't). For the ladies, I know there are guys out there who are real dogs and do not take care of their families or responsibilities after the divorce and that is not me. I already went through losing my kids, house, just about everything I own. Our agreement was until the girls are 18 and that is long past. But, she also agreed at the time of the divorce, to pay 30% of our outstanding credit card and other debts, and I got 70%. I had to count all my income but she didn't have to count the income of the significant other she has lived with since 1993. Anyway, six months after the divorce, she filed for bankruptcy and her creditors came after me for her 30% of the deal. I sent them copies of the divorce and they said that was a civil matter between me and her. They came after me. They called my work and, being it is a school, my boss was not happy and I had to eat those bills too. I don't want to have to go through this all over again and lose the cars either so I really appreciate what you folks have said. I am going to the notary public in a week and "sell" them to one of my brothers.

One is in college in Texas and the other culinary school in Oregon and living with with her grandmother.

For The 67fish: Certainly you are right for that area. Her neighbors are execs with companies and docs who make a fortune. But compared to where I live in Missouri, a 4800 square foot house, no basement, with 5 bedrooms, one having its own bathroom, living room, and kitchen, a movie room, and so forth is a mansion. My house would fit in a corner of that place. Its her third house since the divorce. She always wanted to live in Trophy Club. I'll keep you posted and this was not a rant, you guys may have saved me. I really needed and appreciated the advice. I have an attorney but he would never support some of what was written here. I have to do what I have to do.

Get three bids from the scrap yards/ salvage yards and enter the real value. That is the right way to do things. You can't help it that you owe your brother more money on them than they are worth. I guess they would be negative assetts....

Just out of curiosity, why are you having to pay her and not your girls? I just ask this because they are legally emancipated and apparently controlling their own finances.
I send my son money while he's at school and not his mother.
2nd question is, did the girls go straight to school full time and stay with out a break 12 credit hrs a qtr. anything other than full time should null the requirement.
Just a couple of questions to ask.
I would demand a copy of you girls transcripts, prove they are there full time and are passing, that should get them involved and maybe the ex off you butt.

What he said!

Guess the laws have changed. My youngest turned 18 in 1992, they lived in Maryland and me in Florida, and after that i could just tell her to pound sand.
