Shafers model car thread

-
He used to go to all the public functions...especially the picture theaters. And always carried a Sugar Bag to collect empty bottles and cans.

His name was... Albert (Tapper) Torney. Everyone thought he was a bit eccentric and kids would tease and hassle him. But it was discovered he was very talented and only sold the empty bottles and some of the cans.

After he died in 1998 (aged 86) His large collection of Model Cars he made from the Aluminum Cans was discovered.

This goes to prove..."You Shouldn't Judge A Book by its Cover", or a Sculptor by his sugar bag.

Some of his collection ----

Amazing!

This is def a cool thread!!! I have a bunch I've built. Some of the pics I saw in here are beyond my patience point. How do you guys get the silver/chrome window trim so perfect? I have tried that a few times since I was a kid and it always looks sloppy and wind up just painting over it. I've tried ink pens, paint brushes, and even dipping a needle in silver testor paint.

I have that green GTX model kit. I might get to it soon,as I have been busy lately getting things done around here. Kind of nice to have lots of tasks off my list. Frees me up mentally so I dont feel guilty moving on to other things...

Here's one i been working on recently, bit of a change from my hotrods and racecars.
This is a 1/16 Minicraft 31 Roadster, i also picked up the hotrod version of this and a 2-door sedan.
