Hey guys, I've been looking to switch my '72 dart over to a four speed. I've asked everyone I know, and finally found a guy here in town who's an old drag racer, so I called him and he told me to come over and we'd find out what he has. So I go over there today, and he opens the garage doors and I about hit the ground. The first thing I see is a '68 hemi barracuda drag car, behind it is a all original '69 hemi roadrunner, in the back on racks are two more hemi barracuda drag cars. so he goes looking around in all his parts and finds a floor hump, a bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and a 3 speed transmission. he says he has all the linkage around there somewhere, he'd find it and give me a call when he has it all together. He says he wants to sell it all together, and wants $250 for everything, and that I could probably sell the 3 speed for a hundred bucks or so and find a four speed for not too much more.

I definitely think all the parts are worth it, how hard is it going to be to sell the three speed transmission? And I assume I'm going to need another driveshaft yoke, and will I have to shorten the driveshaft? My car currently has a 904 in it. Will the crossmember be the same?

Thanks guys!
Luke

250 is a fantastic price to include a floor hump and flywheel-bellhousings alone go for over 100 bucks
-not sure if you could get any real money for a 3 speed

i don't know the other questions

By any chance was the guys name Bob Reid? If so he is a wealth of knowledge. I met him a few years back and had a blast talking with him. For $250, I'd buy it all without hesitation.

No, his name is Johnny Kelley. Long story, but I think he screwed me a little bit. I ended up getting a floor hump, flywheel(that needs a new ring gear), and a three speed transmission from him for $250. After I paid him the $250, he said the bellhousing and shifter he had was stolen. He keeps telling me he's going to find me one, but that's been two months now I've been waiting on him.

I'm still looking for a tranny, pedals, shifter and linkage, the dust cover and starter shield for the bellhousing, and clutch fork. I've got two flywheels, a bellhousing (I bought from another guy), a floor hump, and a z bar right now.
Trying to sell my bike to get enough money to finish it, or trade it for some parts

So out of of the floor hump, a bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and a 3 speed transmission you ended up with just a floor hump, flywheel(that needs a new ring gear), and a three speed transmission? On the Hollander circuit for a 318 tranny there are 6 three speeds for $100 each and one of them is rebuilt. There are two for $75 and one of them has the shifter with it. There are five for $125 each. If your tranny is a 340 tranny there is none on the circuit.

I forgot about the clutch and pressure plate, I don't know how to check if I can reuse them, though.
So yes, I got a 3 speed transmission, flywheel that needs a ring gear, floor hump, and unknown condition clutch and pressure plate.

What's the hollander circuit? And how do I tell if mine is a 340 tranny?

Man, that's f@#*ed up when people do you like that! He probably saw your jaws drop when he opened the garage and figured he could get over on you.
