Vehicle transport questions

Well, I won the ebay auction and now need to arrange transportation for my new '64 Dart from Arizona to Texas. I've called a few places and wound up with more questions than answers. I discovered that lots of the car transport internet hits are for "brokers". I know they arrange for the actual transporters to do the job, but why do I need a middleman? Seems like it could be cheaper to deal directly with the folks transporting the cars, or perhaps the companies that hire the drivers directly.

I read in a review on one of those sites that someone was denying to a potential customer that the company was a broker. Why would a broker deny the nature of their business? Is there something "sleazy" about brokers, such that dealing directly with the transporter would be better? Or is there something wrong with dealing direct such that a broker could be of genuine service in avoiding hassles or problems?

Thanks very much for any input.
