Rare has a quality all its own but the overall conditon of the car contributes to value also. You should post more pictures.

Hope this is a little more insight...havent had a good chance to take hood, trunk door pics...very soon ill keep you all informed..also where can i get date coded radiator clamps...oh another quick note on the car

Car was built oct 26 1973

sold march 6 1974, march 8th 1974 the guy who bought it tried to out run the poilce in Oklahoma City and was unsuccessful, car wasnt damaged but was impounded, after the impound lot realized that a brand new car was being picked up after 24 hours they brought it in a garage and put a car cover on it. 9 months later the original owner came back to get it. we have the poilice report from OK, and the impound sheet...not that it has any signifiance but the cool story ...

Boy have the impoundment laws changed in Oklahoma since then, now it takes less than 45 days for the towing company to own the car free and clear. The Oklahoma lein process removes all leins from all states.

by what weve read and were told back in 1974 OK had their own tow truck so that might make the elimination for a towing co to own it...lol

Welcome! :D

Nice story!

As far as "rare", I'd say a qualified yes, its a somewhat rare Duster with that option package, 4 speed, etc.

Now, as for what "rare" means in this case, it means its worth a little more than a less equipped '74 Duster. Which isn't much. 1974 was the highest production year of the Duster, at 281,378. And its the less desirable body style (compared to the '70-72 models). Can't seem to find the production #'s for the V8 4 speeds at the moment, and while I'm sure its a much smaller number the more desirable option would be a 360/4 speed. It's definitely on the smaller side of the production numbers, but its not going to be rare enough to be worth a ton of money.

The condition that it looks to be in is a lot less common though. It's a very nice looking car.

Go into your user CP and edit your signature. You can add both text and pictures. Pictures should be fairly small though, my signature is on the larger side (too many cars! :D ). Pictures need to be hosted somewhere, ie, photobucket, flikr, etc..., so you can just copy the link into your sig.

**EDIT**

it appears great minds think alike. And type quickly. :D

Would like to see more pics of the cars. What's your plans for the car? In your post you said something about putting headers on car. If this car is as original as your info and the few pictures you posted , you might want to reconsider changing anything on car and preserve its condifion. Original cars are rare in there own right and are the top of the hobby. If a "street machine" is what you what there are tons of a bodies out there for sale to modifly. But car that are low miles and mostly original, paint interior, etc. are becoming rare and more vaulable by the day. It is your car, do with it what you wish, just my two cents.I dont think on this forum this is the most popular opinion, but ponder this. If you go to carlise there are a hunderd cudas on the show field. Most of these are cars that any mopar guy would kill to own, but there was only the best cars and rarest color/motor combos in the buildings. One of those cudas was an all original low mileage car. It didnt shine like the rest and looked older but some of the biggest names in the hobby were all around it.

let me say....it has headers now and looking for factory manifolds...i will have more pics soon guys and thanks for the looks and likes its a great feeling...

I would say its on the rare side. I cant remember seeing another 318 4-speed 73 Duster. Maybe not super valuable to others but its no doubt a nice ride.

Welcome to FABO!

You will enjoy this site. Great people and great information!

Rare, yes. Valuable, no. Don't think that you're going to make a fortune off the car, just enjoy it!

By the way, it's a great looking car, especially the interior.
