can i use a 1980 4spd volare column in my 1974 dart? i know it isn't the exact same body but some parts are interchangeable. will this work? swapping to a stick so i'm looking to replace my auto column for that reason(and its junk anyway). i have one available to me at my work. just wondering about bolt in fitment and electricals

No, but you can swap the the upper parts of the volare column onto the A body column as long as the volare one isn't a tilt column.

The 80 F bodies (Aspen/Volare) have the wiper control on the signal stalk, the ignition switch wiring harness is different, the column is over 2" short on the lower end, the firewall mounting plate is different, etc.
Its "do-able" but a fair amount of work. A bit easier with a 76-79 F body column but still a lot simpler to get an A body floor shift column.

Not from an 80 F column, very different piece. 76-79 yes.

thanks guys. i would just use a whole A body column but they've been hard to find locally/EXPENSIVE around here. i work at junkyard known for mopars but we're picked clean for that sort of popular stuff (4spd parts/factory disc/etc). i assume the 4spd pedals and power brake parts out of this car won't directly work either then?

Ahh.. didn't realize they started putting the saginaw columns in those cars that early, thought it wasn't until the mid 80's, thanks for the correction.

Pedal set, no.
Spindles out disc brakes, master and distribution block, yup. Its a pretty common swap. The UCA's and LCA's will not interchange.

F's use the same upper ball joint as 73 up A's. Use the 73 up A body lower ball joint for the swap. There are a lot of threads on it here and a big tech write up on it over at bigblockdart. The F, M, J and late B discs all will work.
