Demon tire/wheel decision??

17x8" rim with +30 offset is a backspacing of 5.6", that should be about right. With a 17" rim it will put you pretty close to the tie rod ends, but you should clear.

18x9" with a +24 offset is 5.9" of backspace. With a stock 8 3/4 you'll need spacers, its not going to fit. If you do the offset hanger/shackle kit it'll buy you ~1/2" per side, but it may still might not be enough, it'll be close.

The reason I say that is I test fit the 17x9" rims I have on my Challenger on the back of my '74 Duster. They've got 275/40/17's on them and a 5" backspace. They hit the springs without a spacer. :violent1: With a 1/4" spacer everything cleared by just a touch less than a 1/4", but that works out to only 4.75" backspace on a 17x9". Now, my Duster still has a BBP 7.25" rear end in it, and I've heard they're a little shorter than the 8 3/4's. The number I usually hear for the 8 3/4" rears is about 5.5" of backspace, which means you'd just squeak by if you go with a 1/2" offset kit. But when you're cutting it that close, it will come down to body assembly tolerances-ie, it will work on some cars but not others. Just hope your car isn't one of the cars with the rear axle offset by a 1/4" one way or another.
