I sure wish he would have posted some pictures of it.

Wonder if the seller has any verification for his "facts" on the Playmate cars???
im no expert, but outside of a special order paint code, i dont think there was anything else special about them, nor any documentation that could prove exactly what it is. maybe something on the build sheet, idk.
sounds like he is trying to use the color to tack on an extra 10,000 bucks.

****There was a perfect example of one in the car corral @ Mopars at the Strip perhaps 3-4 years ago, sold for $5K and the car was original, pefect, no rust, black interior w/273 and I mean the car was perfect!

was there ever any documentation or code for these cars? other than the paint code?

McDonnell Douglas painted Hugh Hefner's DC-9 black with a white bunny logo. So maybe there is some truth to the pink cudas.

Wow, that picture in SF, the car appears to be a Formula S, it looks like Blue Streaks and it has the Commando exhaust.

wonder if that car still exists today.

Oh no! The barret jackson syndrom outbreak i reported in oklahoma yesterday has already spread to idaho! This is a fast moving outbreak and the symptoms include but are not limited to over pricing of cars, bad eye sight leading to inability to see obvious flaws on the car, poor grammar and spelling in for sale ads, poor picture taking abilty making cars apear to be of better quality and arrogance towards facts. Lol!

I don't understand why this is in the "for sale" section. YOU are not selling the car, you are reposting a Craigs ad

Playboy gave away pink cars for several years, many of them outright junk.

But according to this a pink car did not make it a "Playmate" car

1964 – Donna Michelle – Ford Mustang
1965 – Jo Collins – Sunbeam Tiger 260V8 Ford engine
1966 – Allison Parks – Dodge Charger 383 4 barrel
1967 – Lisa Baker – Plymouth Barracuda fastback 273V8
1968 – Angela Dorian – AMC AMX 290V8, AT
1969 – Connie Kreski – Shelby GT-500 fastback 428 Cobra Jet
1970 – Claudia Jennigs – Mercury Capri
1971 – Sharon Clark – Spectra 20 Ski Boat
1972 – Liv Lindeland Mercury – DeTomaso Pantera 351cid
1973 – Marilyn Cole – Volvo Sports Wagon
1974 – Cindi Wood – Mercedes 450SL

I think just about any car maker would supply you with a special order paint code, and let's not forget the "Mary Kay" cars which could be confusing the pool

If that is the real car presented to the Playmate Of The Year, then it was to the 1967 PMOY, Lisa Baker.
Here's a link that documents all of the PMOY cars up to 2010:
http://jalopnik.com/5536844/playmate-of-the-year-cars-1964-to-2010/

Take note of the caption by the pic of the '66 Barracuda presented to the '67 PMOY that states, "This particular car was popular enough to spawn a small production run of 'Plymouth Playmate Barracudas' with pink paint jobs." Might be tough to actually document this particular car as the actual PMOY Barracuda.

Interestingly, there was only 1 Plymouth presented to a PMOY over the years. But there have been 3 Dodges, all Chargers:
1966 to PMOY Allison Parks
1977 to PMOY Patti McGuire
2006 to PMOY Kara Monaco

There were also 3 Mopar "cousins" presented over the years:
1968 AMC AMX to PMOY Angela Dorian
1990 Eagle Talon TSi to PMOY Renee Tenison
1995 Eagle Talon TSi to PMOY Julie Lynn Cialini

What would a clean 66 formula S Cuda go for with auto? I know there are a ton of variables but just in general. Maybe not 100 percent correct original but in good shape. Where on the vin tag would designate a formula S? Appreciate someone shooting me an answer. Got a line on one and before I drive 12 hours I'd like to get some info so I can have the owner send me some pics. Thanks guys

I'm so let down... not exactly the pink I was thinking of...

Carry on! :)

Be hard to nail down whether that was the actual PMOY car with the other limited production vehicles out there.

This link has information on fender tag decoding, make sure you look under 1966.

Prices are all over the place. If it's the car I'm thinking it is, price seems reasonable to me. It's also a nice color when restored. I look for all the formula s parts to be in place. It starts adding up quick buying air cleaners, valve covers, 14X5.5 wheels, hub caps and all the parts to return a car back to factory formula s condition.

It would even be harder to nail down an actual Playmate of the year! :D

Paint Code was PP Pussy Pink...:finga:

There are a few 999 code pink 66 Barracuda's around. IIRC, there was one here for sale once in SF bay area.

Don't go for that much more money. This seller is completely dreaming on his /6 project car.

The paint code was "999". My in-laws bought one brand new and sold it a few years later. Unfortunately none of the pictures they have of it were color....

I also saw one here in town a couple of years ago that had been repainted, but had the paint code and was interesting in that it was a slant/three speed stick car. I would have bought it had I been in the market, but they aren't tremendously valuable.

I saw one in a car show in Cheyenne WY several years ago and the guy had some photos and other documentation to SUPPORT the theory that they were actually painted pink for Playboy related promotion but nothing that could be construed to CONFIRM that theory. I'd be real interested in seeing some factual documentation as some of what he had was very believable.
