Welcome to FABO. Mike will get you fixed up. What kind of car do you have?

Thanks guys, 63 valiant,65 A100 pick-up. The Valiant has .060 pistons, comp cam 252. 500cfm carter AFB, offenhauser intake. I had this engine done at a reputable engine remanufacturing facility at Johnson SC a few months ago. Told them to remove .090 from the head also. After running in the engine, the Victor head gasket started to leak. Pulled the head only to find out it had not been milled, so I had it milled .090". Put back together, now pings terribly! After doing some measuring, They took .090 off the top of the block!!! So now I will have to go back to a non milled head to get my compression down. James

I quess a thick head gasket would not do the job.. I have heard
of thin ones, but not sure about how thick they can get..
I am by no means a tec, sounds like you have some skills on these /6 engines.
Do you know if a thinker head gasket can be found or double stack
a pair and seal it up ?

Either here or on the slant six forum, I read where somebody makes copper head gaskets for the /6. Now, it will have to be .090" thick. It might leak because of the rate of expansion difference between the steel and the copper. James

I am having mine ported by a member here right now...1wild&crazyguy...Pm him for details. He got numbers very close to strokerscamp head with small valves(1.70/1.44).

I guess about all that can be dun would be a shorter piston or rod..
I bet you have allot of work dun to your head, porting and all.
I wounder if it would be possible to remove matt. from the head across from the spark plug could be removed for more cc's

Mike, who did the work on that last pic? Does it have the bigger valves? Do you or anybody you know have run the stainless steel oversize valves that are selling on ebay? Thanks, james

66aCUDA (Frank) built it.. He has dun a few here and over at /6 org..
I have not had these ported, and yes bigger valves..
I think we do have a few members that do run them.
I have got to leave for a while, but look in the Slant 6 forum
and the restoration forum and you should see a few for sure..

sorry, I will be back
