Usage of a NAG-1 Transmission behind a SL6

There are certainly EASIER units to transplant in. I had thought about a 6 speed manual but .. alas... I am getting older and all that shifting... nah.

So I think that I am going for an automatic. What would you gentlemen recommend so that there is a nice Overdrive for highway mileage?

The t56 six speed has almost the same gearing as a 833. So if you never shift to 5 and 6 it will drive pretty much the same. But the .5:1 top gear gives you a whole lot of rpm drop even with a steep rear gear.

There are zero easy options for a overdrive slant six automatic. Every choice has its drawback and require some fabrication skills. If highway mileage is what you are after you could get one of the wide ratio 904 transmissions and put a 2.45 rear axle in it. Taller rear tires is another choice that will get you some more mpg and less acceleration. Remember tire and gear swaps will change your speedo and odo accuracy.

And the nag requires wheel speed sensors to properly shift. You might be able to get away with just a driveshaft speed sensor, but i do not know for certain.
