I have a 1966 Valiant....Can anyone tell me how you take off the front seat brackets that are attached to the floor??

I am new to the car world in all aspects...I am doing all the work myself for the first time...I just don't want to break anything...The seats took me long enough to pull out hahaha......

I don't see any bolts to remove them

Thanks for your help!!

I know I keep saying this but pics are on there way!!!! TONIGHT!!!!!!

:finga:

Bolts/studs for the seat tracks go through the floor, look for nuts on the underside of your car.Spray some lube on them first before you snap them off.:D

Fours 1/2" nuts (per side) under the car for a bucket seat and 2 per side for a bench seat. It will be the nuts with a large washer. If you are in a rust area no amount of lube will prevent them from twisting off. It is not the end of the world if they do break you can replace the studs with bolts.

Since Canada, clean the studs real good before you try to remove the nuts. Best would be to run a tap up to the nut (5/16 coarse thread?). You could also wire brush the threads. Use a lot of penetrant (like WD-40) soaked overnight and slowly work each nut back and forth to let rust work out and the penetrant in. Good luck.
