Was cruising craiglist looking for parts for my barracuda, and came upon this monster of a 68 signet:

No engine or trans, but completely rust-free, new tires, new heater core, new 8 3/4 rear end, master cylinder, new brakes all around, new power steering pump. every piece of trim is there, body is straight, passenger side has already had the body work done and has been etch primed and primed, just needs block sanding, all the annoying stuff like the dash and gauges have already been replaced, brand new. If all that weren't great enough it still has the stock radio, uncut dash.

paid $250 for it. seriously thought the price was a typo at first.

I'm just torn between wanting to restore it with a /6 and 904 and just re-cover the original bench seats and leave the /6 kframe OR put the v8 kframe in, with a 318 or 360 and use 4 , modern bucket seats, grant steering wheel, a brake booster, wilwood conversions all around, etc etc.

Both routes would be equally cool but I just wanted a 3rd party opinion on the matter.

I would combine the two thoughts, a wild 360 or even a big block and put a quiet exhaust on it. Maybe not even put any shinny parts on it. Put some money into the suspension and leave everything else stock looking. It would fool a lot of people and beat even more.

Great find for that little bit of money.

No matter how much money you put in to it it will still bring about the same money as a 4 door. I have a sweet 69 dart 4 door with the 318/904 and it will remain that way. Now on the flip side I have a 68 Barracuda convertible that will be really nice but still have the 318/904 but added disc brakes, 8 3/4 sure grip, ralley wheels, new deluxe interior, new suspension and etc... I know that car will never bring what I have in it either but it will come much closer than the 4 door grocery getter if I put all those goodies on it.

Yeah, I took that into account when buying it, I really don't intend to sell this one, more of a grocery getter/daily driver that can pick up the pace if necessary. Just an alternative to buying a newer honda/chrysler/toyota, I hate how new cars look/drive. I intend to drive this until they stop making parts for it.

That is what I am planning on doing with mine. Keep it nice and drive it.

If it was rust free, then it would be a STEEL....

instead of a STEAL....

jeez i am tring to find a good front clip for a low price and you find a car... thats awesome but i envy
