Long term plans for the car include a single turbo setup.

The preferred carb over at theturboforums is a modded Holley double pumper. Even if I bought the carb new and made the mods to it it's still hundreds cheaper than buying a new blow through carb already set up. Not to mention I can prob pick up a used one since I'll be rebuilding it anyway and really put a few dollars back in the mod budget.

Would this carb be ok for my stock 318/auto while I'm running around NA or would it suck?

I'm seeing some post that the double pumper doesn't work well with autos and I figured you guys would know. If I wasn't going turbo vacuum secondaries would be a no brainer. I'm just wondering if the double pumper really is that bad with an auto.

Running around normally won't be a issue because your on the primaries only. Now, going WOT from a idle would probably be too much. But with a little practice you'll get the hang of rolling into it instead of slammin' her wide open. I don't see why you couldn't live with it for a time until your ready to booster up. Gearing and stall speed will determine how good/bad it acually is. And it's only a 600 so that helps also. Just my opinion:D.

run it. some of these guys are running a 750 DP on bone stock 318s with an 1800 verter. i used a 600 single feed on my stock 318/727 and it would get after it if i just fed the secondaries instead of trying to launch it. like Rick says, toolin around town you should be fine with it.

^^ Pretty much what I've found on other forums. I'm only planning on making ~500rwhp so I'm thinking the 600cfm should be plenty big enough with 10lbs of boost going through it.

Yes. As stated above....your gonna have to get used to driving it with a double pumper.....they are mechanical secondaries and can BOG under a load.

On the Forced Induction 318 with a automatic trans it will be great.

You going with a MP T70 single setup?
I have been playing with this idea for years with similiar expectations.
I already have most of the parts, Except for the Turbo and Hotside piping, including a 4777 Holley 650 DP...that is already Blowthrough modded.

That's the idea. I can source the parts pretty cheap and I'm familiar with the turbo side of the equation. Tuning the carb will be a learning curve but nothing I can't handle.

500rwhp will put the car @ low 11s high 10s with good street manners.

I'm thinking max boost of 15lbs on 93 octane should get it done.

727 trans and 8 3/4 rear should be good for that power rating from what the forums say. I'm sure there will be a few things to help them live though.

I have a 4777 650 DP with the choke tower chopped off on a stock 318 with a dp4b intake and headers in a duster . Stock converter and 2.45 :sleepy1: rear gears. Of course the car is slow but it will break the tires loose and there is NO bog at all.

Great minds think alike, I guess. I just put the same carb on my 360, no choke either. I have some tuning issues to sort out but I think it's going to like it.
