Need help choosing X or H pipe

Larry Sheppard (Mopar Performance) says an H pipe produces no HP but reduces noise which allowed the factory to install less restrictive mufflers on some 60'sperformance models.
and when you think about it,how can a 6" piece of pipe add any power?
