Way Cool Lower Control Arms

LCA re-enforcement plates

I myself had toyed with the idea of adding those plates to the lower control arms. I studied on the set that i had and determined that there would be no measurable benefit to doing so. First off, the factory RIVITED the two halves together. Why? Because welds break! Secondly, the LCAs receive very little torsional stresses. Its all lateral forces, up and down, side to side. The factory pieces are an engineering work of art. Simple, strong, and relatively light weight.

If one were to spend money upgrading the suspension, it is much better spent on larger torsion bars, sway bars, and re-enforcing the steering box mount on the k-member.
