Crane Fireball

ok so i just red that the ballast resistor does not have to be removed, and that the thin red wire from the crane box is hooked up to a switched 12v wire (normally the oe positive coil wire) it says, thats not the case on my set up. So how would i crearte a switched 12 volt wire? couldnt i just tie in the thin red wire from the crane box that they are calling there 12v ignition wire to the ign 1 side of my ballast resistor once i disconnect the ecu power wire from the ign1 side of the ballast? that way i could just keep my ballast resistor there and i wouldnt have to change the way my voltage regulator is wired up. and the crane box would be getting its power source straight from the battery and its ign source from ign1 of my ballast resistor? or could i just tie in the thin red wire from the crane box to my old coil+ wire, because technically there would be power to my old coil+ wire because once i turnj the ignition on the ballast recieves the juice and therefore would power the crane box correct? The only differnce between my wiring and factory wiring is that i dont have the extra brown wire going to positive side of my coil for added voltage during crankinjg because my coil is an e-core style coil and doesnt have anywhere for the brown wire to go to. thats the only difference between my wiring and factory wiring.
