I'm trying to maximize the combination in my car. I'm running a 440 based 493 with 10.8 squeeze, MP '509 cam, Edelbrock RPM heads and intake, 2" TTI headers with 2 1/2" exhaust and a BG 850 VS carb. It is jetter 85/92 with a 3.5 PV. I set timing to 17 degrees inital, topped out at 31 plus vacuum advance. 727 with GV OD, 3.91 diff, 3.05 in OD.
I got 12.8 mpg on a tankfull of freeway driving. While no smoke is visible during cruise, I was told that fumes can be smelled by a follower in a convertible. I need to get an A/F guage to REALLY fine tune the car, but I'm curious as to the setup YOU run in your car.
Thanks! Greg

I just ordered a Wideband Air/Fuel guage from Amazon. Its from AEM Electronics and has both Analog and digital displays. Part# 30-4100. Summit had it listed for $199. Amazon had it for $167. I had to pay CA sales tax but still saved $25.
With this guage/meter, I'll be able to register a baseline. From there I'll have a clear record of what effect each change makes.
