Anyone here from Troy or surrounding area? See, place I work at now is closing part of the facility in the next few years. I have a chance to transfer there, Troy Mi, to keep working. Work will help with the move. I would like some info from people familiar with the area. Not rich by any stretch of the imagination. Thanks!

I worked there for about 5 or 6 years. I live north about 38 miles from there. Its nice, clean....no real downtown area...but just sorta spread out. So work in moving to Troy??..and you want to live close?

Matt

Troy is a nice town, lots of things for kids to do like soccer, baseball, football, hockey. I live about 25 minutes north of Troy, nice thing about it is that it is by I-75 so getting to Troy or going from Troy to anywhere is very easy. Lots of shopping close by so anything you need is real close. It is about 10 to 15 minutes south of Chrysler Headquarters in Auburn Hills MI.

Well, I have been offered a relocation package to work at the Troy facility. Really don't want to move from here, my place where I grew up. Good thing is I have some time to think it over, and work will cover EVERYTHING. I can't turn it down yet, not too many negatives. I just need about 10 more years then I can retire. Houses are real cheap still, just starting to increase. Been looking online at homes, it seems that its like a lot of places. They all have places where it ain't good to be at night time. Bottom line is it could be a whole lot worse!

Just breaking. I have decided not to transfer to Troy. No guarantees on selling my house that I have not even lived in for a year yet. I have five more months to find another position where I am at now. I have a decent rep should that shouldn't be too hard.

CANT GO WRONG IN TROY .... CRIME LOW .... one of the best places to live in Michigan as far as crime is concerned ....i would live there in a heart beat ...

Whenever I go to Woodward Dreamcruise, I stay in Troy Michigan.
It's clean, safe and not too far from the cruise. I feel very safe
in Troy.

Wilson.

It isn't that I have something bad to say about the area. Shoot, you can find rough places no matter where you live. It's just that I bought my house last December, and I don't feel like moving. Housing service can not guarantee my house here will sell, the offer for free rent is only good for six months. If it don't sell in that time I'm on my own. I can not afford rent and a mortgage. I have five months to find something else where I work at now. We have been lucky and are still hiring. If not, well I'm also talking to a headhunter and once I send him an updated resume, he already has two places for me to go interview and maybe a third right here in town. I was driving myself crazy with the thought of moving and not selling my house. I said to heck with it and said no transfer, I feel better now after that decision. Thanks for the replies everyone. Oh, I did see where Woodward blvd runs right close where the new job would of been. LOL.
