I got a used 06 Mustang GT Premium Package, I know you guys probably don't like them but I couldn't afford a 28k Challenger which is what I wanted. This one was soooo clean had one tiny scratch and was very well cared for. Engine is stock 55k miles. Has all new Ford Racing 1" lowering springs and struts all around and 18x9 fronts 18x10 rims with 275's out back. A Ford racing cat back system. It handles great. I am a mopar guy but the prices of the challenger were outlandish. I get 20 MPG. I paid half what they wanted for a Chally. I have had it for a few months but didn't think anyone here would care bout a GT mustang.

Im not a fan of the Challenger. to big. I like the Mustang better myself,

no matter what make it is. that is a sweet ride. i bet its a blast to drive. the aftermarket is huge for them too.

Thanks I wasn't sure but man it handles like a go cart with the suspension upgrades and you are right the aftermarket is so cheap. Full set of bigger ebach sway bars are 300 shipped. All I am going to do is sway bars and maybe a tune and CAI. Otherwise it is my daily driver and has pretty good power.

your better off with the better looking and performing mustang.

i just bought a 87 mustang rag top back in june. boy did i have fun cruising it all over the place this summer. my 3 year old always wanto to take the mustang places. had to have the top down for her too.lol

I too always wanted a new Challenger. I have to agree with Adam and I am speaking from experience. I leased a new 2011 RT 6spd manual super track pack equiped Challenger July of last year (picture attached). It was a nice looking car and I got plenty of thumbs up but it was also a pig to drive. It was fast but it was too big and isolated feeling. If I thought I was going 80 on the freeway I was doing 120. It was going to get me in trouble without getting the thrill. Before that I had a hotrodded 2001 GT Mustang convertible lowered with some goodies. It was 10X more fun to drive. I have since traded the Challenger in on a new Jeep Wrangler now lifted with 35's and it feels like I am doing 120 when doing 80. The 68 Barracuda is also much more fun than the Challenger.

Good looking Mustang. I don't think you are missing out on anything settling for this. Pre 1976 Mopar A bodies are where is at. After that I think the latest Mustangs are a better balance of power and size.

HA! First thing I bought was a sweet black with red striping child seat for my daughter. She loves it.

That makes me feel better. That is one sweet looking chally. I couldn't justify the payments for one. This car was in my budget and drives and looks brand new. Its pretty quick and surprising nimble and well balanced. I am happy with it.

I can't afford either, but I do like the newer Mustangs. I think Ferd did a hell of a good job on those as a "retro" car, and it's about time, given the horrid 80's "Fox" er whatever they're called

Good for you. It looks great and it's fun to drive. I think the new Mustang better represents the American muscle car.

I have never drove one :glasses7: I would like to one day, I hear they are a fun, fast and
nibble car, nibble=lite. :burnout:
Congrats and just look at the cash you saved for your A body

It isn't too bad, like 750 a year. But I have a perfect driving record.

Thanks for the comments. I am never getting rid of my GTS and Mike you're right more money for parts.

$750 a year is cheep for a car like that. The new Mustangs are nice. I work for Ford and see very few in the service department.

I agree, I am a fan also. The OP has a 4.6l, which is a great engine. A good friend in SD has an older Mustang Cobra with a supercharged 4.6...and it is a Monster.

From a service department perspective, how is the new 5.0 Coyote engine? From what I have read, that engine is dramatically overbuilt...in anticipation of boost scenarios. Do you see many of these new 5.0's in Service with Engine problems?

Thanks,
OldMoparsRule!

Yeah the cheaper paxton supercharger set up is 4 grand gives you 430 WHP.
