are you guy's who recommend that tape really using it?

because this ^^^^ 3m friction tape is what i use at work and it would be horrible for a wiring harness...everything sticks to it, especially when it gets warm
most wiring harness tape i've seen and used is like this...

3/4" electrical tape without the adhesive. or is this what your calling friction tape?
