The future of Hot Rodding/Muscle cars ect?

-
I was talking about this with my brother the other night, how would you begin to restore say a 2012 mustang or camaro? with all the internal electronics if something went haywire it would be nearly impossible. The cars from the 70's back were simplistic in design (compared to nowdays) no computerization to worry about etc. JMO

Just throwing this out my son just completed his training at Lincoln tec here in Denver.
The mussle cars are a real wonder for these guys they all seem to want one but cannot afford them yet. The school has shows and as expected there are alot of imports there during the show but what always draws the attention of the younger crowd is the mussle cars of our generation.
Here is where it gets a little strange during all tranning they recieve they do not teach to them old school technology. just plug and play technology he loves working on my stuff it is a real learning experience.

I dont think there will ever be a challenger barn find in in 2050. Most of the new cars in 40 years will look like a dash pad left in the new mexico sun for forty years, too much plastic used today. My son's first car is a 73 duster. It's stored in the shop for the last 6 years but he never will sell it. As to swap meets I think there is such a growing aftermarket you can do your shopping on line. Don't need to go beating around junk yards looking for a part (but I still do it) the early iron is now being used on rat rods. So I think classic cars and hot rodding is here to stay. Everybody needs a hobby and this is a good one. Anybody looking for a project? LOL

In 20 years I'll be 80 and won't give a damn let alone have a clue.
My dad has alzheimers(fuct up disease) but when I pull out his Korean War scrapbook with after battle pictures he was in he remembers the battles he faught perfectly. I think we will all remember our Mopars and I'll bank we will still have them. I hope to smoke the hovercraft in the next lane when I'm 80.

i wont be around,in 20 years, ill be dead,as far as my cars go,my son wont get none as he dont care,so ill donated it to big daddy

I hear you I have often wondered what will happen to my cars upon my depature from this world. My son and daughter would like to have them but I don't think they have the RESPECT for what they are.For now I have a friend that will sell them if I should not be here or able.

It will be interesting to see who will win. Big gov or people. Yesterday for the second day in a row the Chp set up a road side smog test. They only pulled over a few random cars but they were cited with fixit tickets. California

We are only caretakers of these cars. Hopefully they will continue to live on long after we are gone....

Same with UTI which i was bummed out but i got what i can out of it and i mostly work on older cars because it what interests me lot more, the styles and simplicity of them. Pretty sure the hobby wont fade away. parts i think might be a ***** to get especially for amcs which i own 2 of them (59 & 60) rambler which my god is a frkn pain to get parts nowadays but who knows, will see in 20 years!!

I'm speculating in the next 20-40 years they will mandate a law where every car has to be electric. And I also feel that at some point there will be 99% electric cars on the roads and the govenment will come one day and take all the gas powered cars from their owners and crush them.

Either way I think in the next 10-20 years I think battery technology will improve allowing better driving range and we will start seeing more electric swaps into old cars.

Yea.. I think if I were you guys I would be more concerned about how the Government is going to dictate to us what to do with our cars. Gas at $10.00gal, forcing us to buy electric cars, and tightening emission controls could leave us all with cars that were worth oonce $10,000.00 will leave us with nothing more than worthless steel paper weights sitting in our garage.

I think this is nonsense. "improved batteries?" The problem is not better batteries -- it's "how do you charge them? Until we come up with a TRULY green electric power source, meaning solar or wind, or maybe, "magic," all the batteries in the world won't solve the problem.

The same problem faces fuel cells in a manner speaking--you have to get that hydrogen from somewhere.

I have been into Mopars since 1984 bought my first when I was 15 1985.Now I am 42 and between the price of parts and the economy its rough.I have always had 2-3 Mopar toys in the past, but now I can not really afford the two I have.I should really just stick to one car. Most of us live pay check to pay check and I just don't see the younger generation being able to afford it.
I am trying to redo A 67 Formula and I think it is going to take me 8-10 years to get it done.Unless I sell my Road Runner to fund it.

I've seen people proposing batteries for electric cars be swapped out for fresh charged ones, sort of like what they do with propane tanks for grills. But nobody is going to want to stop every 100 miles to stop and change batteries. talk about a slow road trip.

And sure you can argue to me about how much of the earths power is produced by coal. I won't argue with you for a second on that issue. But there will still be a push for electric cars regardless because people just think electric=green.

Points to Ponder..

In 20 years, I may have an electric/hybrid governmentomobile, but I'll be savin my vacation money for whatever passes for hi-test, and I'll spend 2 weeks doin burnouts at Salem 4 corners,..and pressin pedal to the metal on Rt 11,....then I'll save for another 50 weeks so's I can do It all again,...My gas v8's will never be garage statues,....And my Duster never sold for 10k and it will never be worth 10k,....no matter how much "numbers matching green paint and 14" trim rings" you put on it...

When I die, my "old" cars will go to someone who will treat em like I do,(that means primer and burnouts),...old school hot rods...

Today, kids are growin up with your 10 year old Jeeps, Explorers, Honda's, and Huyundai's,...thats what they're being given as "hand me downs",...Prolly a third of hot rodding is done with a laptop,.....My first car was a 69 barracuda fastback that you could see clear through to the other side, that car was so rusted that my dad gave it to me when he lost the gas tank, spare tire and chains on the highway, (that car was only 6 years old),...My version of "hot rodding" was primer, Cragers, Thrush mufflers, and a bigger carb,....

Can't say if any will be around tho,...raise yer hand if you remember Cosworth Vega's, Monza's, 024's and TC3's, turbo Capri's, Heavy Chevies, Ford Lightnings, etc, etc.,...long since recycled, yer shavin with most of em these days..,.

Today, Its all plastic and computers,....You'll remember this and laugh when you see a 2018 Electric Fiat Ram fly by you, driven by a kid who loves his 12 year old truck and his newly installed flux capacitors,.....I'm pretty sure that Hot rodding may change, but It will never die...

I think hot rodding, particularly drag and circle track racing, is becoming more and more money driven. At least with drag racing we have bracket racing. But to play in the super classes or any professional classes takes a lot more money than I will ever have. Hopefully there will be a grass roots movement in drag racing that reels in the out of control spending it takes to compete, and gets ingenuity back into motorsports.

this thing is many times larger than it was 30 years ago and has exploded world wide i sell parts mexico sweden australlia germany are recent examples just waiting on my first china sale would probbably be better if it did cool off some
