I think this is nonsense. "improved batteries?" The problem is not better batteries -- it's "how do you charge them? Until we come up with a TRULY green electric power source, meaning solar or wind, or maybe, "magic," all the batteries in the world won't solve the problem.

The same problem faces fuel cells in a manner speaking--you have to get that hydrogen from somewhere.

I've seen people proposing batteries for electric cars be swapped out for fresh charged ones, sort of like what they do with propane tanks for grills. But nobody is going to want to stop every 100 miles to stop and change batteries. talk about a slow road trip.


And sure you can argue to me about how much of the earths power is produced by coal. I won't argue with you for a second on that issue. But there will still be a push for electric cars regardless because people just think electric=green.
