well the hp is your choose and you don't have to put a full cage in to stiffen the body. put your hoop behind the front seats your down bars to the back frame and your front side bars in to some frame support. no hallo bar or a pillar bars are needed. oh and some type of cross bar in the hoop behind the seat

Never thought i'd hear this forum speak like this. Keep hp low, that's crazy talk...
Im doing at least 500hp, period.

lol, the chebby guys would have a baby, hearing us call 500 HP low :burnout:

my dads demon runs 10.60s at 126-128mph. the car is driven to and from the track and he drives in alot in the summer time. he is making approx 525hp. that car will embarrass pretty much any production car built. he runs 12.5 x 28" et streets and the car hooks on the street. the car is scary fast. you can get going so fast in such a short distance that it really is dangerous. 700hp will sooner or later get you in trouble one way or another. that and at that level of power it takes alot to time and money to maintain it. 500hp is plenty enough power to make you the fastest guy on your block.

Kegan71 has a really good example and here is one of the tube chassis that i have built

Appreciate the info and feedback. im leaving the thread now.

In reading the thread I also found the previous comments a bit strange - for this forum.. Personally I think the cage you are building looks great. You're doing a great job tucking the tubes out of the way and out of sight. Having the side bars on hinges - or removable does make it a whole lot easier to get in and out - especially if you are on the silver side of 50...
700hp - why not? If you go by what is practical and what meets the speed limits etc, we would all be driving a Prius.. These days you can stick a blower on a Challenger and have 7-800 hp that drives like the 400 hp version. I suspect you are going after your power the old school way which will make it a bit more tempramental on the street - but I also suspect you are only going to be driving this car for fun on occasions.

sounds like a bunch of scaredy cats! ever driven a souped up hemi on the streets? ever carried the front wheels to the second gear shift? if you have you won`t ever forget it! build it the way you want it and use common sense, I HAD A 600 PLUS VEGA W/ A SPOOL ON THE STREET , just be careful. I`m doing the same thing now w/ a 505" barracuda.

It's either one or the other man, cage or no cage, each has it's drawbacks. They suck on the street. Also, 700hp for the street is ridiculousness, and puts you and others in danger. Seems like a pretty big risk just so you can feel like a 15yr old who has the biggest wand.

Please don't be that guy...

x2...
