In the midst of a load of stuff I bought a while back is a 100 amp Mopar alternator. I now have the original 65 amp which came on my 70 Dart. Just from looking at the mounting situation for the 100 amp, it looks like it is a bolt in swap. Even if there are some minor "adjustments" I would like to use it. I am installing a serious stereo with an amp, have 2 electric fuel punps,(one for the carb and one for the nitrous), 2 electric cooling fans, nitrous oxide, 2 extra ignition coils for the flame thrower, full instrumentation and so on. I felt that the 65 amp would be working overtime. Now I am concerned that the 100 amp may not be enough. What do you think??
Also, I would like to know if the stock voltage regulator for the 65 amp will also work for the 100 amp??

You need to do more than just bolt on the 100 amp if you expect your charging to work properly and live a long and fire free life. How stock is the wiring. Still have the ammeter? Bulkhead connector? Relay for vr voltage sense?

I thought that the 100amp's had the regulator built in.and I would up the wire size.that's my thuat.......Artie

Regulator should work

Read this MAD article,

and consider converting your ammeter to a voltmeter

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=119480&highlight=ammeter+conversion

Also consider getting a fused/ relay box under the hood, so loads are drawn directly off the alternator/ battery junction, instead of going in/ out the bulkead connector. Bussmann makes some that you can buildup, and others sell these pre--assembled.

I recently picked up a junker out of a 95?97? Jeep, and the one in my car is out of a 95 Voyager Mounts on the fender behind the battery Some rewiring required.
