here my entry, its called "chicken of the sea"

model is a monogram 1971 plymouth baracuda
paint is testors RAF training yellow which is a close match to butterscotch
under the custom 6 inch cowl hood is a 426 HEMI with custom log manifold and 8 single barrel carbs
all that power is brought to the ground through a set of Spyder rims and down force is provided by a superbird wing

and here she is getting the jump on a challenger at thunder alley

that was a hard choice both really cool models but got to side with the Cuda a 71 Red on Black is my dream car lol

Yeah kegan where is yours???? I voted but won't say who got the vote

Sorry cuda i had to vote for Asa your car is well built [been building models for 40+ years and i'm jelous i did not have the patence to wire and do chrome trim] but i'm not a fan of wings on anything but superbirds/daytonas and i don't like those wheels in real life. Asa's car shows a thought process and skill to make the rustbucketness look realistic i think he did an ecellent job of pulling that off [and he used a ford to boot] both of ya'll are very good and have a great eye for details, this is a great hobby [too bad they have gotten so expensive [they were 2.00$ when i started 69/70] keep up the good work!!!!!

fair enough
i dont even think i have any build models that have been as extensively weathered as that ford (though i am working on a monte carlo modelled after the yupers "rusty chevrolet")

i personally kinda like the superbird wings, i also have a 74 GTX with a superbird wing on it
i agree in real life it looks totally off but in plastic anything is possible
as for the rims, i honoustly dont think ive ever seen spyders on a real life car but i like them for models, i can only use so many centerlines and cragar SSs, the spyders are much less comon on model cars

is it just me or is that a 392? or is the motor in backwards?

the thing that throws it all off is the intake which indeed came from a 392 firepower engine that was an optional part on a 53 ford truck
(here it is on the hoist)

when i put the intake on it never occured to me that the desoto mill had the dizzy in the back while the 426 has it in the front
i could claim this is a special race engine with the dizzy swapped to the back off the engine for a better balance but in fact, i mixed and matched parts without knowlegde of thier real world counterparts

Love the Cuda, although not crazy about the hood. Otherwise, very nicely done. Especially like the color combo and who doesn't like a HEMI Cuda? Love the scene in the shop too.

Had to vote for he rusty Ferd though, because it so closely resembles Fords that spent their lives in upstate NY. Darn salt did the same thing to all brands, including the Mopars for that matter. Nice "weathering" job, Dart Doctor.

.

thanks
one of my favorite parts of the shop isn't visible in these shots but there is a challenger front clip on the wall and it has working lights in it

as for the hood on the cuda, i wanted something that worked with both the enige and the car so i took a AAR hood and raised the center up 6 scale inches
i like it but i dont expect every one to agree on everything
the butterscotch is one of my favorite colours on muscle cars, it just is the exact opposite of moulin rougue (actually my second choice for this build was a moulin rougue 74 cuda)

where is yours Kegan

thanks it took a ton of time to do that . I this was my 1st try at it i will help and one that want to try it .. I used real rust to make it like that some fine steel wool .. and set it out side for a few weeks let it rain on it and it it sould turn to dust when you crumble it up . ues a brush and put on some paint then cover it up with the rust

I voted for what I like. You did do a nice job Asa but that isn't my kind of model

thanks
as much as i love the dual plane intakes on these HEMIs i like mixing it up some and the log style mani with the 8 single barrels is just so over the top, its cool :)

I would like to be in on the next challenge. I have some nicely done mopars worthy of the camera lens. Both are well done. I like the custom cuda, but also the weathered talladega. You are both winners of this contest.

Keep me posted on the next model contest.

How about slotties?

Got some nicely modeled slot car stuff. HO scale. Kitbashed dodge L700 tilt cab truck n trailer (budweiser) on older aurora A/FX magna traction chassis. Runs nicely on my 4 lane slot car track. Nicely chopped and lowered autoworld 70 challenger T/A body over A/FX SRT chassis. autoworld gran torino modified into a dirt track late model , sitting on an A/FX SRT chassis.

Harder stuff to model since its smaller about the size of a hotwheels car, but lots of fun to play with LOL

My iroc series camaros are posing for a pic in my avatar.
