I was having my car media & sand blasted. I gave them exact instructions on where to blast & what I wanted done welllllllll their non english understanding employees blasted my WHOLE car even the new parts I had just put on it before I brought it there. I need a rotisserie to borrow/rent asap because the car is going to the body shop in the next few days & have body work done & he can't do the bottom of the car from jack stands. ANY help would be appreciated! This is going to kill what budget I had set aside. They even blasted my wheels, rear end which had the line taped up,my new KYB shocks,New SS springs EVERYTHING:violent1::banghead:

Looks like they did a good job:eek:ops:
Where was the owner/whoever you reached the deal with?
Sorry I don't live close enough, I would help you out with the rotisserie.
Good luck with it.

I told him to come out & meet me at the car because it was still bare metal & I had paid for primer too. He said he didn't get to the workers before they went too far & just halfassed grinned when I asked him WTF happened. I asked his amigo's why the endges of the inner fenders were bent up & I said it looked like they picked it up by there with the forklift. He said no,that is warping of the sheet metal. Wait for it! I said then why the f**k didn't you stop blasting at that point?! They then stopped talking to me.

Sucks man. That sand or soda blast? Gonna be crap in every bearing, bushing, prolly inside that sweet Dana 60, everything.

I hope that you did not pay the owner for hacking your car.

Sedanman I feel very sorry for you, the knucklehead's that did your car
have NO SENSE about doing sheetmetal panel's. I'd never let anyone blast a roof, or any other semi flat panel with sand. I also would not want to see the look on your bodyman's face, when he run's his hand over the sheetmetal panel's. I really do feel for you, but in the end, I hope your body guy can fix it.
All the best to you. We do have a rotisserie, but it's not on wheel's. Let us know if we can help.

I looked at the panels & I don't feel any warping on the body. Thats 1 plus!

He said he didn't get to the workers before they went too far

Even workers who don't speak any English would know not to start any job without knowing exactly what parts were to be done. I bet he simply told his workers to strip the car...and that's exactly what they did. The business owner is ultimately responsible Especially if YOU were clear with the owner about what was to be, and not to be, done. Small claims court may have to be your next step in order to recoup the money you will have to spent to correct his negligence. Did you have/sign some sort of contract?

I did fill out a work order to blast the car & hood. It wasn't area specific, that part was verbal in person while he filled it out as I pointed everything out.

Yikes! Is there any DIY garages in your area with lifts? I know the Auto Hobby/skills shop on the Navy Base there will have lifts and bays to work at if you know anyone with Base access.

There aren't any military bases left here other than the Navy base but they are next to impossible to get into. That's a good thing :)

I did a Craigslist search & there is a guy not too far from me that does rotisserie restorations & need to bring the car by him for a price. I'm thinking of Rhino lining the under carriage. Has anyone done this? I drive my car all year round except winter. I was really trying to only have 1 shop working on my car but I may have to have to farm this out or spend $700+ for a rotisserie. This has to be done quick.

That blows! You may want to contact the Better Business Bureau as well as leave comments on Yelp dot com. I read things like yelp and I know a lot of other people do as well.

THat is a great looking car body!

Good luck.

Mike

i have seen 2 engine stands used before. they had the car down to the shell. bolted it up with a 2x3 x1/8" bar from back and front bumper mounting areas. then they bolted a bar all way across from engine stand to engine stand at the bottom. in a pinch that may work. or you could build tall legs with caster wheels on the bottom and attach them in the same way.

I took a look at the bill & it appears that he has deducted $800 from the bill. It was $850 for the sand blasting,$850 for the bead & $500 for priming. It also states what was to be bead & sand blasted.

I misplaced Jim's # DOH! But,I spoke to a friend who actually owns 1 that is on loan & is making some calls to see if he can get it.

Keep detailed records of ANY expenses related to correcting his mistake(s). Although he may have deducted $800.00 from the bill, that may only be a fraction of what it might ultimately cost you to remedy the situation.

I have a friend that is in the process of having a 1967 Chevy II Nova SS restored and they powder coated the frame and Rhino lined all the floor, trunk pan and everything else on the under side of it that wasn't attached to the frame, including the fenderwells. The restorer said it helps keep the rock chips down.

We use it all the time at my shop. Looks great
