Hey guys i am (THINKING) of installing a flat black tail stripe on my 68 Dart. I mocked it up to see what it would look like. what do you guys think? I planned on installing the DART letters, but I can not find a good set, thanks

Since it looks like your decklid, roof, etc is gloss black, I would match that sheen with your tail stripe. Also, widen the stripe to factory width.....

Beautiful car =D>

If I do it I will get the 68 factory size stripe, But I do not know if I should go flat or gloss, If I go gloss i would maybe only go from where the lime green starts to the bottom of the car. or I thouht the flat would look kinda cool over the gloss black trunk.

Definately do it! I would use the stock matte black stripe personally so it doesn't get lost on the black paint across the trunk.

If I had the money I'd have a stripe on my 69 already.

Nice car.

George

out of topic but this is the only duster i saw with this stripe kinda cool wonder what it would look like on other a bodies

Either leave it without the stripe and put the Dodge letters on the quarter, or factory style stripe only in matte black without the letters.
If you do both, it will look too busy.
JMHO.
Nice car by the way!

nope. car looks good just two toned. the stripe looks stupid on it with the paint scheme. in some cases (like this one) less is more.

My 2 cents - I love the look of the original style stripe on the 68 Dart, but to me, on your car with the beautiful modern two color paint, it is too much - trying to make it look period correct while it isn't. If you want the stripe, paint the whole car one color first. It takes away from what you have already got. Just my opinion!

As for the 70's style hood scoops, they are removed, I am converting the hood to the bulge hood. I bought the cut out bulges off of a FABO member, and going to splice them into my hood (I will be posting pics of the convesion) As for the stripe I am still undecided. thanks for all you replys, keep them coming. here is another pic from the drivers side.

I agree stripes would only cover that b-e-a-utiful paint up. If you absolutely must put a stripe on it needs to be the wider factory stripe. Just my 2 pennies fir what they're with.

Agree with Dartnut...Letter or stripe, but probably not both. It always looked like a mistake to me when there were paint/color changes under lettering/badges...

The narrow stripes seem to section up the side of the car. I really like the factory stripe that is a little wider but has the thin pin stripe on the edge. It's a nice accent. These just kind of look like exactly what they are, two vertical strips of tape. Beautiful two-tone paint by the way. Really nice looking car.

like I said, if I do it I would get the 68 factory stripe .
