Ok. Anybody have their windshield out on their 64-66 barracuda and or Valiant. Need exact measurements of windshield frame inside opening from metal to metal up and down. Dead center and directly up from wiper posts are good spots! Help much appreciated!!!

Ok. Thanks. Had the guys come over to put windshield in and it did not fit. Need the correct measurements... At least the center would really help!

I think Cosgig (Geof) has his windshield out of one of his 66'es..
I hope someone can jump on this soon for you !! KaaaBump for you Scotty

I would think it would be whatever your windshield is plus 1/4" or so on either side to allow for the rubber channel in the gasket.

It wasn't ! Measured windshield and had at least 3/8 clearance. It's too tight. And that means you have about 3/16 for rubber gasket on perimeter.

ok....put this in a few sections...desperately need metal to metal measurement of a 64-66 barracuda/valiant windshield opening...dead center, height of the opening... would just use windshield height plus 1/4 in relief but not sure it that will work
just dead center height measurement...lip to lip...thanks!

Measured mine in 2 locations.... at the right side wiper pivot - 22" inner seam to inner seam, and 23-1/8" outer edge to outer edge..... At the left pivot -21-1/4" and 22-1/4", respectively....

Hi, my windshield is out ('65 Barracuda). The center measure of inner flange "edge to edge" in the vertical direction is also 22". The channel "edge to edge" in that same position appears to be 23-3/16".

So I've gotten three responses and three different center measurements 22, 22 1/8, and 23 inches. Anyone else?

Scotty - That confuses me. I think you are after the windshield frame flange edge to edge measurement, correct? Rick and I both gave you 22" for the center; ragtopfury also gave you 22" for the right wiper pivot location which is only 6" or so off the centerline. So, it seems all three are pointing to 22". What does yours measure?

someone gave me 23...so that threw me off... I had to fix the frame, which meant cutting it... so I wanted to make sure it was correct...every 1/8 inch counts....

Well the consensus here is that the openings height from pinch weld to pinched in center is 22 inches. Well I measured 15 times and welded my frame back together at this dimension
Well, the windshield still would not fit. Any other ideas????

Please post up some pics of your windshield frame repair so we can understand the extent of it. As far as other ideas, the following questions come to mind:

Is this a replacement windshield or OEM? If replacement, do they measure the same?

Are you using the original weatherstrip or new? You should be able to measure the "solid" thickness portion of that weatherstrip, i.e., the distance on the weatherstrip between the inner surface of windshield groove and the inner surface of the flange groove. That answer x 2 plus the windshield height should tell you where you are at. If using a new weatherstrip, does it more or less match the OEM?

Finally, assuming you have the right parts and your frame is correct, are your guys correct in the conclusion that it doesn't fit? I mean, these windshields are not exactly easy to install, particularly if using an old weatherstrip as these can get pretty hard and inflexible with age.

Note, I have not yet reinstalled mine yet and so can't speak to the experience of having done it. I do know it was not easy to remove as I was trying to save both the OEM windshield and OEM weatherstrip.

Scotty - You made me curious, so I took some quick and dirty measures of my OEM windshield and weatherstrip. Don't quote me on the accuracy since, as I said, these are quick and dirty:

OEM windshield center height = 21.375 inch
OEM weatherstrip "solid portion" thickness = 0.21 inch

So, 21.375 + 2(0.21) = 21.795 inch

This tells me it fits in the 22" opening measure I gave you earlier. Again, I recommend you measure what you have (and spend a little more time than I did for accuracy) to see what's going on.

I am using a replacement windshield and a new gasket...that gasket seems a little thicker than .21...
Im going to smooth out some rough spots on frame and heat up the gasket before trying again...
windshield measured approx 21 1/4 inch in middle....

Good news. Windshield went in today without a hitch

Got a new issue. Need to replace rear drivers side quarter window. I have the piece, it's just glass, no metal piece. How do I install?
